In news that may not come as a surprise, AOC has retained her New York congressional seat.
It’s a very good day for congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez…
Because she’s just won the re-election in New York.
Especially during such difficult times for our country.
Here’s what we know so far…
Back in August, when it was announced that Joe Biden would be going head-to-head with Donald Trump as the official Democratic nominee, we knew this race was going to be filled with ups and downs.
While both sides made the best out of an exceptional situation, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, they also fell victim to some strange habits, including (but not limited to) name-calling, late-night ramblings, inaccurate tweets and misquotes.
It’s definitely been a wild ride so far.
The Guardian described it as a “national humiliation” watched by global audiences if that’s anything to go by. Rather than discussing the pressing issues that were plaguing the country, the 2 nominees resorted to hurling insults from either side of the podium.
Due to the president’s potentially contagious self, the second debate was forcibly canceled, though the rivals still held their own separate events where they discussed all the topics they couldn’t go into detail about the first time.
Public opinion on who performed the best was divided.
Muting the opponent’s mic while someone else was speaking. Who knew such a simple tactic would be so effective? The final debate, which took place in Tennessee, saw both candidates discuss several of the country’s problems, including the coronavirus pandemic, social movements, and climate change.
Well, what else were we really expecting?
Though this year, things might be a little different.
When it was announced that Wisconsin had voted red and ultimately pushed Donald Trump over the 270 electoral threshold, Hillary Clinton conceded defeat and our new president was announced.
And it’s going to be a close one.
And according to the Independent, polls showed that Biden and his vice presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, lead the way, being favored amongst 66% of voters.
Who knows which way this one’s going to go, but one thing we know for sure is that you should all vote in this election.
But things are changing by the hour, so who knows where we’ll end up.
Numerous representatives are rooting for elected seats in Congress, and the most recent election is AOC.
Thirty-one-year-old Alexandria, who has been dubbed as AOC by her fans, is one of the youngest and most progressive women to ever serve in the United States Congress… and people absolutely love her.
AOC is known best for championing progressive causes, which has drawn criticism and praise from both Republicans and Democrats.
She is also seen as a leading light of the Democrat party, and a possible future presidential candidate.
“Serving NY-14 and fighting for working-class families in Congress has been the greatest honor, privilege, & responsibility of my life,” she wrote.
“Thank you to the Bronx & Queens for re-electing me to the House despite the millions spent against us, & trusting me to represent you once more.”
Make sure to stay posted for upcoming updates.
