Some people joked in the comments that the package would “be delivered in 9 months” and that “Amazon drivers are the new milkmen.”

While others were concerned about the driver losing his job as they wrote: “He is getting fired after someone at Amazon sees this video.”

And it seems they were right to be concerned as a representative for Amazon told TMZ that “the driver is no longer delivering packages to Amazon customers.”

“This does not reflect the high standards we have for our Delivery Service Partners and their drivers. Allowing unauthorized passengers to enter delivery vehicles is a violation of Amazon policy, and the driver is no longer delivering packages to Amazon customers.”

Big yikes.

And now, since the incident, the man in question, Tywan George, has spoken out, explaining that he was just “making ends meet…”

He told TMZ that the woman seen leaving the van was his “partner” who he knows “personally.”

And after being asked about what she was doing in the back of the van, he responded: “Delivering packages.”

“Everybody misconstrued the video,” he added. “Rent is high in town for everything. It’s just hot. It was making ends meet, basically, if you get what I’m saying.”

He continued…

“I honestly felt like losing my job was the most that they could do to me. There were no packages reported missing, nothing was reported stolen, it was just the incident went viral.”

George suspected he would lose his job, saying Amazon has a “strict” behavior policy…

He concluded: “That was one time. A one-time incident. Honestly, though, I did what any other man in America would do.

“It is what it is.”

Do you think he should have been fired?
