Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are opening up about how out-of-hand their drinking had really gotten.
The former Good Morning America co-anchors recently started their own podcast, Amy and T.J.
The coworkers-turned-lovebirds decided to participate in Dry January this year, abstaining from drinking alcohol for the entire month.
On the latest episode of their podcast, Holmes and Robach revealed why staying sober for a month was important to them, revealing just how much they were drinking last year.
The harsh truth…
“I am certainly somebody who right now and in years past needs to reexamine my relationship with alcohol, and that’s what we are doing,” Amy said before revealing a shocking number.
Robach went on to say that her alcohol intake was at “over 30 drinks a week” before they made the lifestyle change.
“That is appalling to me. That is embarrassing to me,” the podcast host admitted. “That is not what I wish it were.”
But, while Amy was embarrassed at her own number, she went on to note that Holmes’ alcohol intake was “jawdropping and not possible.”
Holmes’ shocking confession…
“I could easily go through 18 drinks a day — 18 drinks a day,” T.J. revealed.
The host noted that it would be “easy” for him to be “two drinks in” at 10 am after a run, and after that, he and Robach would drink at least two drinks during lunch.
“I could easily have a drink in my hand from 2 in the afternoon until 7,8,9, 10 o’clock a night,” he said.
As if the health implications weren’t enough to get the couple to stop drinking for a while, they also revealed just how much money they’d spent on alcohol in just one month.
“We spent in the month of December $2,869 on alcohol alone, period,” Holmes told podcast listeners.
“I thought the number would be higher, to be honest with you,” he admitted. “But that is an amount of money now that is going to be saved in January.”
Luckily for the couple, it seems like dry January is going very well for them following a year of debauchery.
Holmes noted that since starting their “dry January kick,” he and Robach have been “feeling great.”
“She was walking today into the studio and said, ‘I’ve got some pep in my step,'” T.J. said of his girlfriend.
Robach revealed that she’s lost two pounds since changing her lifestyle, while Holmes said he’s lost anywhere from “three to five.”
“That’s the only major change,” Robach said of their lifestyles to start 2024.
“We have always been runners, and we have always been pretty good about watching what we eat, so the alcohol is the big change that we’ve made,” Amy explained.
Amy also talked about her decision to take on the life change while describing her 2023 as a “pandemic.”
“I didn’t have a job to go to. I was staying away from a lot of friends and family. We were laying low,” she admitted. “So what did I do? I drank a lot, a lot more than I ever have.”

But the pair are still together in spite of the controversy!

Robach attended Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia.
She then went on to study at the University of Georgia, where she earned herself a degree in broadcast journalism.
She also attended Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Since then, she appeared on numerous news programs as a news anchor.
Robach, as well as David Muir, have been the co-anchors of 20/20 since May 2018.
But before becoming a news anchor for ABC News…
Robach began her career working for WCBD in back 1995.
By 1999, she left the station and began working at WTTG in Washington, D.C.
She then later moved to MSNBC, where she worked for 4 years, including a time when she was the morning anchor for 2 hours and a substitute on Weekend Today, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and Morning Joe.
But whilst appearing on our television when giving the morning news, there’s been a lot going on behind the cameras amongst her colleagues…
It was reported that she and T.J. Holmes had something going on.
And it has been kept a secret — until now.
This comes after they were training together for the New York City half marathon.
The source said the pair were spotted “canoodling” in bars near ABC News back in May.
According to one employee, the couple has gone to extreme lengths to hide their affair.
“They have a very cozy relationship on air, but that is what is expected. But they were very careful behind the scenes to keep their affair secret. The producers at ‘GMA’ are shocked to hear they are having an affair,” the source explained.
New photos published by the Daily Mail showed Robach and Holmes recently cozying up to each other…
And at one point they were even holding hands during various outings in upstate New York and around the city.
As per the media outlet, 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, the co-anchors went on a getaway to a remote cottage where Holmes was seen grabbing Robach’s butt as she leaned into the trunk of a car.
Insiders also told the Daily Mail that the ABC staff was “buzzing about the intimacy between them” while they were in England in June for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Sources told the media outlet that Robach and her husband, as well as Holmes and his wife, Marilee Fiebig, went their separate ways in August.
TMZ then revealed that the pair will be taken off of Good Morning America.
Network sources have called the relationship an “internal and external distraction.”
ABC News’ President, Kim Godwin, said: “I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization.”
“This is something I’m not going to talk, we’re not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said. I’m asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work.
“If you think there is something that management needs to know, you can always call HR or, as we’ve said, talk to a manager that you trust. If you think there is something that we need to know,” she concluded.
TMZ then reported that ABC is looking into the affair.
The network wants to find out if the two violated any company policies during their relationship.
This would include ” using company resources, like vehicles or drivers, to meet romantically … or pressuring staffers to keep the relationship on the DL.”
But now sources have confirmed to TMZ that the pair are still “very much together.”
They’re just avoiding going out in public to minimize attention.
