As we know, there’s an unwritten rule society pushes onto women when it comes to motherhood.

And it’s that there’s a timeframe that we all have to work to.

Society frequently tells women that they need to settle down and have kids by the time they’re thirty.

A lot of the time, this just doesn’t work, whether that be career-wise, or simply not feeling ready to bring a life into the world.

For those who love that idea, that’s great, but for many who have no clue what they want to do with their lives…

It can feel pretty daunting.

Imagine having to deal with that while also being a star-studded actress…

Now that’s a lot of pressure.

Of course, it’s not only women who feel like this…

And actor Andrew Garfield has spoken out about his struggles with the “societal pressure” to have kids by forty.

The Oscar-nominated actor has recently opened up about his thoughts on it all…

And what he had to say made a lot of sense.

Garfield is a man of many talents…

He’s taken on a variety of roles over the course of his career.

From 2 Amazing Spider-Man films, let’s not forget his dimension-bending appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home

To Oscar-nominated Tick, Tick… Boom! he’s shown how incredibly diverse his acting skills are.

The British actor began his career on stage and in several UK television productions.

He made his feature film debut in the drama Lions for Lambs back in 2007.

That same year, he won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor for his role in Boy A.

But his break-out role was Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network, for which he received both a BAFTA and a Golden Globe nomination.

His success has only skyrocketed from there.

And now you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t heard of Andrew Garfield.

Fans have also been keen to know his dating history since he entered the spotlight.

His relationship with former costar Emma Stone was a huge deal.

After meeting on the set of the Spiderman movie, where Stone played Gwen Stacy, they began dating for 4 years.

Sadly, the pair broke up in 2015, but they remained close friends. “They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each other and remain close,” an insider told Us Weekly.

After their split, Garfield began dating model Christine Gabel in 2019.

This was short lived, however, and they later split.

Currently, Garfield is reportedly dating ex-girlfriend Alyssa Miller…

It seems they are back together after briefly splitting at the start of the year.

The pair first got together in November 2021, but after a few months they called it off.

However, it looks as though things between Garfield and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model are on the up.

And it turns out, he’s struggled to deal with the pressures of society…

Especially when it comes to being a parent.

Garfield recently opened up about the “societal obligation” he felt to become a dad.

And the age restriction he felt society put on him of having a child before he turned forty.

The actor admitted that he knew he was on a “different path,” and that was a struggle for him.

Especially as his mom, Lynn, wasn’t able to be a grandmother before she died in 2019.

He revealed that he had to unlearn this social pressure…

And it was a difficult road for him.

“Releasing myself from the societal obligation of procreating by the time I’m 40 has been an interesting thing to do with myself,” he told British GQ.

“Where do I start with why it didn’t happen?”

“It’s more about accepting a different path than what was kind of expected of me from birth.

“Like by this time you will have done this, and you will have at least one child – that kind of thing,” he went on.

“I think I have some guilt around that. And obviously, it’s easier for me as a man,” Garfield added.

Despite opening up on the sensitive topic, he did leave out details about his current relationship.

It’s interesting to get the male perspective on what’s normally deemed a women’s issue.
