Angelina Jolie has recently hinted at a big career switch.
Still feuding with Brad
But before she can do that, she wants to finalize her current custody battle with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.
Despite their split being finalized in 2019, Jolie is still going to court with Pitt over custody of their kids.
Many people are left wondering why Jolie is continuing to fight this battle, and the answer lies in her belief that it is in the best interest of their children.
Divorce is never easy, especially when children are involved.
For Jolie and Pitt, they share six children together – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.
Angelina and Brad have been at odds for years
When their divorce was first announced in 2016, it was reported that Jolie wanted sole physical custody of the children, with Pitt having visitation rights.
However, as the custody battle continues, it becomes clear that Jolie is not willing to settle for anything less.
One possible reason why Jolie is still going to court with Pitt over custody is that she has concerns about his parenting abilities.
Reports have surfaced over the years alleging that Pitt has struggled with anger management and substance abuse issues.
She has also accused him of domestic abuse.
She wants to move on from Hollywood
And now, the actress says she wants to quit Hollywood and leave Los Angeles for good.
In an interview with WSJ. Magazine for its December/January issue, she explained how the ongoing court battle with Pitt has led her to lose “the ability to live and travel freely.”
“I will move on when I can,” she added.
“I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”
Because Jolie grew up in Hollywood, she says, “I never bought into it as significant or important.”
She wouldn’t have chosen acting had she known what comes with it
And if she had to do things all over again, she wouldn’t have chosen acting as her career path, particularly because of how intrusive people can be towards celebrities and their personal lives.
“When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” she continued, before joking that all of her best friends happen to be refugees.
“Why do I like spending time with people who’ve survived and are refugees? They’ve confronted so much in life that it brings forward not just strength, but humanity.”
While Jolie may be bidding farewell to acting, she is certainly not bidding farewell to making a difference in the world.
She has been actively involved in humanitarian work for many years and has expressed a strong desire to dedicate more time to her philanthropic efforts.
Jolie’s passion for helping others has taken her to places like Cambodia, where she has worked to improve the lives of vulnerable communities.
So, it comes as no surprise that Jolie’s next career move might be centered around her humanitarian work.
Jolie’s connection to Cambodia could also play a significant role in shaping her future career path, having hinted at wanting to relocate to Asia following her court battle with Pitt.
Cambodia is her next stop
She adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia and she has a deep affection for the country and its people.
She has used her platform to raise awareness about the issues faced by Cambodians and has even directed a film, First They Killed My Father, which tells the story of the Cambodian genocide.
It is not far-fetched to imagine Jolie using her influence and resources to further support and empower the people of Cambodia.
Whatever path Jolie chooses to take, one thing appears to be certain – she will continue to inspire and make a difference with her philanthropic work.
Her passion for helping others and her dedication to helping people in need are quite admirable.
While fans may miss seeing her on the big screen, they can take solace in knowing that Jolie’s next path in life will be just as impactful, if not more so.
