More and more people have been joining the anti-mask movement, believing wearing a mask during the global pandemic is "against their human rights."

Studies have shown there could be genuine physiological reasons as to why some people are don't want to wear a face covering.

"When faced with uncertain situations over which we have no control, we tend to exercise it wherever we can, so we feel safe," one expert said, according to HuffPost. "Some will feel safer exercising their control over not wearing a mask, while others will feel safer exercising their control to wear one."

Other experts blame mixed messages from those in power.

"The mixed messages we’ve all received are probably the main culprit for non-mask wearing. Inconsistent recommendations, along with historic polarization of political parties, magnify a common mistrust of government mandates."

But, whatever the reasons, masks have become an extremely polarizing topic...

With anti-mask protests increasing, as is the dispute.

Encouraging verbal altercations with staff and shoppers, the video shared online has sparked a lot of opinions.

The protest took place at a Ralphs and the Westfield Century City mall.

In the videos posted on Twitter, the alleged protestors can be seen marching through the store and mall without masks.

They walked through with some holding signs that claim COVID is a "con-job" while shouting "no more masks" to others in the store.

The clips also showed them getting into arguments with other shoppers who wanted them to put on a mask or leave.

One clip showed a protestor calling a shopper a "mask Nazi" whilst other videos the protestors trying to push open doors of shops that had closed due to the protest.

Another showed a woman who said she’s a doctor, shouting at the anti-maskers: "My mother is in the hospital with COVID," to which she received the response, "People die. That’s life. Your father’s not special."

Los Angeles police were in attendance and recorded 2 battery reports, one at the Ralphs and the second at the mall.

Officer Rosario Cervantes told BuzzFeed News that there were no arrests connected to the protest at either location, saying officers responded just "to keep the peace."

"We were there to keep the peace and they were there to facilitate their First Amendment rights," she added.
