Everyone knows Tom Holland as Spiderman, but most recently his relationship with Zendaya has floored everyone…
Starting as an unknown theatre boy from England, Tom Holland was catapulted to unprecedented levels of fame in 2016 after his Marvel debut in Captain America: Civil War.
Holland achieved international recognition for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU.
Of course to begin with, many were a little shocked to hear that such an unknown actor had been cast in such a big role.
But, Holland soon showed how perfect the casting was.
Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo said that Holland had the edge because of his prior experience as a gymnast.
In the script, Spiderman flipped in a scene.
And Holland reportedly offered to perform the stunt himself during one of the auditions!
The Marvel Universe has catapulted Holland into the A-list limelight.
And he has gradually become one of the most popular actors in the world of Hollywood.
He is an incredible actor and is also well known for his comically loveable personality off-screen.
And his relationship — but more on that later…
We all remember the time he accidentally let slip that his character had died in Infinity War to an audience full of people who hadn’t yet seen the movie.
Big whoops.
There’s no surprise that people simply can’t get enough of the actor…
And recently it has been no different…
Holland recently confirmed he’s dating co-star Zendaya.
And it’s safe to say, it has melted fans’ hearts…
Holland and Zendaya were first spotted at the world premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Holland opened up about playing Spider-Man.
He then moved on to talk about MCU rumors, but before he could say too much he was interrupted by screams.
Pausing to look around, Holland said: “I think Zendaya just showed up. That sounds like Zendaya just showed up.”
And now, Zendaya has also opened up about their relationship which has been kept very private.
In a move that has fans all around the world feeling all the feels.
“I don’t know what I’m more jealous of the fact Tom Holland gets texts from Zendaya or being able to refer to Tom Holland as my boyfriend like I’m sick,” wrote one fan.
“I really cannot believe Zendaya called Tom her boyfriend like that like stanning her for years and she’s never done something like that,” another agreed.
“Why did hearing Zendaya say she texted Tom first about her win make me cry, I love them!” a third agreed.
Last night at the Emmy’s, Zendaya made history with her second win.
But it was her emotional response to the award that got everybody talking…
“Thank you to the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria. Thank you for making such a safe space to make this very difficult show. I love you all so much,” she said in her acceptance speech.
“Thank you to Sam for sharing Rue with me. Thank you for believing in me even in moments where I didn’t believe in myself.
“Lastly, I just wanted to say my greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people,” she continued.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me. I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue, or feels like they are a Rue. I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories.
“I carry them with me and I carry them with her, so thank you so much,” she finished.
Holland wasn’t in attendance at the ceremony, as he’s currently filming Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room.
But it was clear that he wasn’t far from Zendaya’s thoughts when she was asked in a backstage interview who the first person she’d told about her win was…
“I didn’t have to text my mom because my mom was already there, she’s here tonight, which is very special,” Zendaya replied. “And I text my boyfriend.”
This is the first time Zendaya has called Holland her boyfriend!
Holland has spoken out against stereotypical gender heights in relationships…
During a recent press interview on SiriusXM, host Jessica Shaw pointed out the “problematic” assumption that women should be shorter than their male partners in heterosexual relationships.
Reportedly, the host referred specifically to the romantic on-screen pairing of Holland and Zendaya.
Holland responded and joked that Zendaya is “not that much taller” than him, then went ahead to explain that their height difference is not an issue.
“It’s a stupid assumption,” he said.
“It’s ridiculous. I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests, I mean, you’d have to ask [director] Jon Watts this question, but every girl we tested for both roles was taller than me. And I wonder whether that was a decision Jon had made, there was no one who tested that was shorter than I was.
“To be fair, I am quite short. So maybe that’s a decision Jon Watts made, and something he was aware of, and he wanted to break the stereotype,” Holland added.
Holland’s co-star Jacob Batalon also summed up the discussion and said: “It’s not a weird thing for women to be tall.”
And now, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas has spoken to ComicBook about Holland…
And even revealed he would be the best for a role he once did.
Banderas said that Holland is “energetic and fun” and noted that he has the spark for the role.
He also shared that he would like to do the same thing Anthony Hopkins did for him when he took on the role of Zorro in 1998.
The actor admitted that Holland is the perfect fit to take over the role of the next Zorro if the opportunity for him “to pass the torch” ever arose.
Banderas first played Zorro in The Mask of Zorro, which also starred Hopkins as Diego de la Vega, who was the original Zorro, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. He then reprised the role in The Legend of Zorro.
