But it wasn’t the outcome that anyone expected…

The nationwide manhunt for Vicky White and Casey White ended on Monday after the pair were apprehended by Marshals.

This all started eleven days prior when Vicky was last seen escorting Casey out of prison in shackles.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding told reporters on Monday after the pursuit came to an end: “The male and female fled in a vehicle on Highway 41 northbound, went past Highway 57 as you can see they turned here on Birch Park Drive, they came through this grassy area.

“The Marshals task force intercepted them, actually collided with them to try to end the pursuit.” He added: “Two bad people are off the streets.”

Vicky and Casey are believed to have been hiding out in Indiana for the last 6 days before they were found by police.

“It’s hard to believe they were here that many days. They’re criminals, sometimes they do things that are inexplicable, but I’m glad they did,” he said.

The sheriff said that it was Casey’s large build that enabled them to find the fugitive couple.

“In this case, one of the suspects being 6ft 9, that’s good for us,” he said.

Sheriff Singleton said that after their car was cornered, Casey exited the vehicle and handed himself over to law enforcement without struggle.

“This has ended a very long and stressful and challenging week and a half,” the sheriff added.

“It ended the way we knew it would – with them in custody. He is never going to see the light of day again and that’s a good thing, not just for our community but that’s a good thing for this country.”

Officials received an anonymous tip on their whereabouts on Sunday night, after the public was on high alert for the pair.

After arriving at a hotel near Evansville, Indiana, the two were said to have fled and that’s when the chase began. Although it’s not known why they ended up in Indiana.

CNN interviewed witness Cory Bradley, who said he saw the chase as he was driving on Highway 41. “It scared the life out of me when they came flying by,” he said.

“A little bit up the road, we were in stand-still traffic, and that’s when I heard what was going on and took the video as I went by.

“I kept it moving. I thought about pulling over since it’s a national story. We don’t get a lot of action like that around here,” Bradley said.

Since his arrest on Monday, Casey White has also been charged with attempted escape.

And before she was pronounced dead, Vicky was charged with identity theft, second-degree forgery, and assisting an escape.

The charge of forgery and identity theft is due to the fact she wore a disguise in order to buy a car “to facilitate the escape,” according to Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.

The dramatic end to the pursuit of the pair came as the Cadillac car Vicky was driving was crashed into by Marshals.

Before being captured, Vicky reportedly shot herself, and as Casey was arrested by officials, she was rushed to hospital.

At the time, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding told reporters that Vicky’s injuries were “very serious” and said she was in “pretty serious shape.”

Then later, on Monday night, Vanderburgh County Coroner, Steven W Lockyear, announced that she had succumbed to her injuries.

Sheriff Singleton has spoken out since learning of her death that he was feeling “pretty down” about the news.

“The whole sheriff’s office is like family,” he said.

“When you have a family member that makes a bad choice, you know, you don’t like them but you still love them. She was family to us. And so yeah, it hurts.”

Sheriff Singleton added that he suspects Vicky and Casey were in a “romantic relationship,” and that Vicky was “just as concerned about coming back and facing her family and her co-workers as she was the charges.”

Her cause of death was reportedly a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

And now, chilling 911 audio has emerged reportedly capturing Vicky’s final words.

According to the New York Post, the audio, obtained by NewsNation, appeared to capture Vicky instructing Casey on what to do after the airbags went off in their car.

With sirens ringing in the background, the audio hears a woman, suspected to be Vicky, say: “Airbags are going off! Let’s get out and run!”

CNN reports that noises can then be heard before a woman shrieks.

The outlet reports that just after a minute later, while sirens can still be heard, someone can be heard saying “got a gun in her hand.”

They also allegedly say that “she is breathing.”
