Australian TV Presenters Caught Calling Novak Djokovic ‘Lying’ and ‘Sneaky’ Off-Air

Two Australian TV presenters have been caught bashing tennis star, Novak Djokovic after he appeared on their show.

And people seem to agree with their comments…

This comes after Novak Djokovic’s recent win in a court battle against the Australian Government.

Scroll on to hear what they said…

Novak Djokovic had traveled from Dubai to Australia last week ahead of his play in the Australian Open later this month.

However, upon arrival at Melbourne airport, Djokovic was detained by authorities for several hours.

The thirty-four-year-old was held at the airport as border officials ruled that he had not met the rules required to enter Australia.

The New York Times reports that the tennis player was told he would need to leave the country after questions were raised about a medical exemption from a coronavirus vaccine.

The medical exemption would have to allow Djokovic to compete in the Australian Open despite him not being vaccinated.

According to the BBC, Djokovic had been granted the medical exemption by 2 different independent medical panels, both of which had been organized by Tennis Australia and Victoria state.

A decision that caused an uproar due to the strict rules around Covid-19 vaccinations.

But, Djokovic had reportedly “failed to provide appropriate evidence” to enter, border force officials said.

And as a result, he was detained at an immigration facility, the outlet reports.

Questions began circling about why Djokovic’s visa was canceled in the first place.

But the Australian government clarified the reasoning.

And it sparked a lot of opinions…

Australia’s Health Minister, Greg Hunt, was asked about the cancelation of Djokovic’s visa while appearing on Sunrise.

In response to the question, Hunt said: “Mr Djokovic failed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia and the visa has been subsequently canceled.”

Hunt also added that it was “up to him whether he wishes to appeal,” but if a “visa is canceled, leave the country.”

“Yes, it is tough but it is fair and one rule for all under this Australian Government,” he said.

Australian Prime Minster, Scott Morrison, further spoke about the cancelation of the visa on Twitter.

In a tweet, Morrison said that “rules are rules” and nobody is “above these rules.”

The tweet read:

“Mr Djokovic’s visa has been canceled. Rules are rules, especially when it comes to our borders. No one is above these rules. Our strong border policies have been critical to Australia having one of the lowest death rates in the world from COVID, we are continuing to be vigilant.”

While a statement from Australian border force explained why Djokovic was detained.

“The Australian Border Force will continue to ensure that those who arrive at our border comply with our laws and entry requirements,” the statement read, LADbible reports.

“The ABF can confirm that Mr Djokovic failed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia, and his visa has been subsequently canceled.”

“Non-citizens who do not hold a valid visa on entry or who have had their visa canceled will be detained and removed from Australia. The ABF can confirm Mr Djokovic had access to his phone.”

Rafael Nadal also took a swipe at the star saying that he doesn’t have much sympathy for him.

Nadal is a Spanish tennis player and is ranked world number 6 by the Association of Tennis Professionals.

And he’s had a little something to say about his rival after the row about his visa.

“I have been vaccinated twice. If you do this, you don’t have any problem to play here,” he said, as per Yahoo Sport.

“The only clear thing is if you are vaccinated, you can play in the Australian Open and everywhere, and the world in my opinion has been suffering enough to not follow the rules,” he continued.

“There are rules, and if you don’t want to get the vaccine, then you can have some troubles. I think if he wanted, he would be playing here in Australia without a problem.”

“Of course, I don’t like the situation that is happening. In some way, I feel sorry for him. But at the same time, he knew the conditions months ago, so he makes his own decision,” he finished.

But, the situation didn’t finish there.

Because Novak Djokovic recently won a Court battle against the Australian Government.

And people were mixed in their feelings toward the win.

Some were estatic with the news.

But others weren’t so happy.

Djokovic is now able to play in the Australian Open after arguing his case in court.

And it comes as the Federal Court Judge Anthony Kelly ordered for the tennis star to be freed from the immigration detention on Monday, giving him the right to play in the Open on January 17.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Judge said: “We all play by the same rules… those rules were not observed.”

And although it looks as though Djokovic is free for now…

Immigration Minister Alex Hawke can actually still make the decision to revoke the unvaccinated player’s visa if he wanted to.

Dr. Zoe Harcombe tweeted about the outcome after many people expressed their fury with the player.

“The whole country is hating on Novak Djokovic right now because he had the courage to do what most of us did not – stand up for himself… millions of Australians have allowed themselves to be abused for the past two years. And no one wants to admit that,” she quoted from a Spectator article she shared.

Nigel Farage even tweeted…

“A huge win for @DjokerNole this morning. If the Australian government fight this they will look dreadful,” he said.

And now, 2 Australian TV presenters have gone viral after their comments about the tennis star were caught without them knowing…

Mike Amor and Rebecca Maddern thought they were off-air when they were filmed discussing Djokovic’s statement about the situation.

And people are in total agreement with what they had to say…

Live on 7News Melbourne, Maddern was heard saying: “Whatever way you look at it, Novak Djokovic is a lying, sneaky a**hole.”

Adding her opinion on errors found on his visa application, which Djokovic blamed on his employees, she said: “it’s unfortunate that everybody else stuffed up around him.”

Maddern continued: “To go out when you know you’re Covid positive – well, I don’t even think he even was Covid positive…”

To which Amor added: “Bullshit f*****g excuse and then fell over his own f*****g lies.”

Talking about the way the immigration authorities handled his case, Amor said: “I think he’s going to get away with it. [He’s] an a***hole – [but] did they do the right thing by him? No, they f*****d up.”

Maddern said: “I don’t think anything was gained by putting him in an immigration hotel.”

Amor replied: ″No, I don’t think so. But the trouble is, how do you justify a person who is on the same plane as him who also has…”

“The fact is, life is never fair,” Maddern replied.
