We’re all aware that Beyonce is a global superstar.

She just doesn’t miss, and she’s built up a huge fan base because of it.

The singer rose to fame in the ’90s as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child.

And her success boomed from there.

And in 2003, she released her debut studio album Dangerously in Love.

It was an immediate hit.

Shortly after getting into the music industry, Beyonce met Jay-Z, and the pair became pretty close.

They met in 2000, when Beyoncé was just eighteen years old, and kept their relationship private for years, even though they began appearing in each other’s music videos.

They married in 2008. Four years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Blue Ivy, to the world.

Beyoncé then went on to have twins, Rumi and Sir in 2017.

But the singer’s relationship with Jay-Z hasn’t always been so simple.

The rapper opened up about his relationship with Beyonce in an 11-minute video on his streaming service, Tidal, with Mahershala Ali and other artists back in 2017.

They discuss how seeing poor examples of men mistreating women growing up influenced their relationships with women down the road.

“We built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn’t totally built on the 100 percent truth, and it starts cracking,” Jay-Z said in the Tidal-exclusive video.

“Things start happening that the public can see. Then we had to get to a point of ‘Okay, tear this down and let’s start from the beginning.’”

The rapper goes on to talk about his life growing up in the Marcy Projects in New York, dealing with violence on a daily basis, but found working on his relationship to be more of a challenge. “Nothing’s harder than this,” Jay-Z said. “By far, I’m telling you. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

And I think we all remember the leaked video footage of Beyoncé’s sister Solange, physically attacking Jay-Z in an elevator…

Making it seem as though Bey and Jay didn’t exactly have a picture-perfect marriage. While the three released a statement following the incident, noting that they’re a regular family that fights, tabloids speculated that Solange’s outburst toward her brother-in-law was due to cheating rumors.

And Beyonce’s album shortly after the incident just caused further speculation.

Her ground-breaking visual Lemonade also referenced instances of infidelity. On the track “Sorry,” Bey sings “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair,” seeming to reference one of Jay-Z’s trysts.

Jay-Z later addressed both incidents on his album, 4:44.

On the opening track “Kill Jay-Z” lyrics “You egged Solange on / Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong” validate Solange’s elevator outburst. On “Family Fued” Jay-Z raps “Yeah, I’ll fuck up a good thing if you let me / Let me alone, Becky.” He also appears to blame the stress of his infidelity for Beyoncé’s miscarriage with line “Bey losin’ babies ‘cause their future’s uncertain.”

Both the album and short film “Footnotes for 4:44” show a remorseful Jay-Z, who is also very much in love with his wife.

When asked about whether Beyoncé knew about the revealing nature of 4:44, Jay-Z said his wife heard the album early on. The rapper explains that in order for their relationship to survive, they have to be completely honest and transparent. “We just got to a place where in order for this to work, this can’t be fake,” Jay-Z said in the video. “Not one ounce.”

Thankfully, it seems the pair are now in a much better place.

And just hours before the release, she gave a little look at what it’s all about.

Beyonce shared a sweet post on her site, giving some background on the project while also thanking her family and friends for their support.

Along with the letter, she uploaded a photo of her laying next to her sleeping children, 10-year-old Blue Ivy and 5-year-old twins Sir and Rumi Carter.

“This three-act project was recovered over the pandemic,” she wrote.

“A time to be still, but also a time to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving.”

She continued: “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment, a place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking, a place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”

She went on to thank Jay-Z and her kids for inspiring her throughout the whole process.

“I want to give a special thanks to Rumi, Sir, and Blue for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration, and a special thanks to my beautiful husband and muse, who held me down during those late nights in the studio,” she wrote.
