The body found in an Indiana pond has been identified as 1-year-old Jaclyn Dobbs.

Jaclyn’s body was found in a retention pond in Northwest Indiana yesterday.

The child was reported missing earlier this week after her mom, Ja’nya Murphy was found dead, ABC7 Chicago reports.

Police officers were shown to the pond after construction workers spotted a body floating.

The pond is said to have easily accessible from the nearby road and was full from recent rainfall.

CBS News added that Indiana State Police Sargent, Glen Fifield said the construction workers did the “appropriate thing.”

“They saw what they believed to be a body floating in the water and they did the appropriate thing and called 911 immediately and 911 dispatched the fire department, which is standard protocol for something like that and they went immediately into the water and recovered the body,” he said.

Police had been searching for the 1-year-old since Tuesday when her mom, Ja’nya Murphy, was found dead in their home after not showing up for work.

The outlet reports that police believe Murphy was strangled and murdered, and that Jaclyn was taken away in a Dodge Grand Caravan, that has since been located.

A person of interest has been identified and is believed to have been questioned.

Our thoughts are with her family.

Rest in peace, Jaclyn Dobbs and Ja’nya Murphy.
