It has just been reported that boxing champion, Viviane Obenauf has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her husband.

Here are the full details...

Domestic violence is often seen as a gendered crime...

One where women are abused by the man in the relationship.

However, this isn't always the case...

And, while both men and women experience incidents of violence and abuse, men are the ones less likely to speak up about abuse happening towards them behind closed doors.

This can lead to serious physical, psychological, and emotional trauma...

Or violence, which can result in injury or death.

Sadly, this is how the latest story ended...

Proving that more needs to be put in place to help those who are struggling.

Pro boxer, Viviane Obenauf, has been arrested over suspicions she murdered her husband.

The thirty-four-year-old Brazilian is suspected of beating sixty-one-year-old Thomas F to death.

Now, Obenauf has made quite the name for herself in her home town of Rio de Janeiro...

And, at the age of eighteen, she cemented her reputation by taking up the usually-masculine sport of boxing.

Obenauf has enjoyed a particularly successful record as a boxer...

Winning fourteen fights against just 6 losses.

She has also fought in 3 world title fights...

Gaining 2 World Boxing Federation international titles.

She held both the WBF International lightweight...

And WBA International super featherweight titles.

3 of her 6 losses were 130 lb title fights...

Against Terri Harper, Chantelle Cameron, and Maiva Hamadouche.

She officially hung up her gloves last November.

After retiring, she began working in the gastronomy industry and then went on to open her own gym.

However, people who know her have said that she is quick to lose her temper...

And is known to get into fights outside the ring.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick, Obenauf was arrested back in October 2016...

For punching a man who had allegedly groped her outside a London nightclub.

She was also reported by her ex-boyfriend...

Who said she would often go too far during an argument and make it physical.

But now, it seems she has taken her violence to the next level.

Her husband, Thomas, was found with fatal injuries in their apartment in Interlaken, Switzerland in October.

According to reports, he died of "massive injuries due to a blunt instrument."

Swiss police arrested Obenauf this week after an ongoing investigation.

The pair only tied the knot in January year...

His restaurant, Des Aples in Interlaken, has been shut since his death was reported.

According to her husband's friend, Martin Soche, Thomas was popular in their town and will be missed...

In an interview with Blick, he talked about their friendship and the time they've spent together over the years.

He said: "He was easy to get along with and worked with passion."

"I had borrowed glasses from him for a birthday party and had to bring them back. "Then we had another beer together. And now he's just not there anymore. It has shaken everyone up."

This is devastating news...

Rest in peace.
