A devastating accident occurred in Texas when a young boy was crushed to death by his horse.

Legend Kell Williamson, who was just ten years old, died in a riding accident during the Texas Junior High Rodeo, a competition in Louisiana.

Legend, who had secured a place in the final after previously winning 2nd place in the team roping event, got caught up in a freak accident while he was practicing for the next stage.

His horse suffered what Chief Detective Sylvester Denmond told KPLC was either a heart attack or brain aneurysm and fell on top of him.

As per People, it was reported that “his horse had a medical emergency, reared up, died, and fell, landing on the boy.”

The horse died at the scene, while Legend was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital due to “blunt-force trauma to the head,” according to KPLC.

“It’s just a freak accident, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the rodeo community,” Denmond told the news station.

After his death, many people took to social media to share their condolences with Legend’s family…

“The loss of Legend is devastating and our hearts are breaking for the Williamson family. We ask that today and for weeks to come that you lift this family up in prayers,” the Texas High School Rodeo Association wrote on Facebook.
According to Carroway Funeral Home, Legend’s “contagious smile, firm handshake, and a good ‘yes sir’ was enough to melt anyone’s heart and gain their respect.”

His parents also shared a statement, thanking those that have offered their support during this devastating time.

They wrote to Pinewoods Youth Radio, saying: “Thank you so much for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support. We are heartbroken and paralyzed with unimaginable grief, but we find peace knowing Legend is in the arms of Jesus. He was loved by so many people & touched more people’s lives in 10 short years than most people do in a lifetime.”
A funeral service is being held for Legend tomorrow to celebrate his life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Rest in peace.
