Imagine the man that you're going to marry humiliated you in front of his entire family (a very religious one, may I add) by suggesting you should not wear white because you're not a virgin.
Well, that's exactly what happened to one woman...
Taking to Reddit, he shared his point of view of the situation...
And let me tell you, no one's siding with him.
Keep scrolling to have a look at how he defended himself.
Now, we all love a good wedding!
I mean, who doesn't?
But planning a wedding is no walk in the park...
And it can get unbelievably stressful to create that perfect day.
You have to pick the perfect venue...
Should you go with a traditional church wedding? A regal castle? Or play it safe with a registry office and an intimate restaurant? Decisions, decisions.
Choosing a caterer...
And of course, all the free tasting sessions that go with this laboring task. How any bride fits into her wedding dress on the big day, we don't know!
And the wedding cake, of course!
Why not go a little non-traditional and choose a cheesecake? Hey, it's still a cake!
Sending out those sought-after invitations...
No honey, you can't invite your entire college football team. I am letting you invite your mom aren't I? Count yourself lucky.
Choosing the rings...
Men never seem to grasp the importance of this task. Not only does the ring symbolize your everlasting love for each other, but it is essentially a piece of jewelry that we will be wearing every day for the rest of our lives. It must be perfect.
And of course, the obligatory parties. Naked butler anyone? They are on offer 241.
More like hen and stag getaways nowadays. The last night or week of freedom when you are required to drink yourself stupid, wear a penis as a hat (that one's mostly for the bride) and wake up with a head full of regrets.
And a renewed sense of love for your soon-to-be significant other.
And how could we forget the most important element of any wedding?
No, not the groom, silly! The bride's outfit, of course.
From a gorgeous dress...
To a pair of stunning shoes... The big day should make every bride feel like the queen that she is.
While a lot of people tend to go for a traditional "white wedding" look because that's the tradition...
It seems as though one man is willing to sacrifice that because of one thing...
His fiance's "purity."
Now, let's not even get into the problematic nature behind branding his wife "impure," otherwise we'd be here all day. But let's focus on the fact that he sided with his family when they suggested that his soon-to-be wife wear a color other than white to uphold the apparent "humiliation" of not being a virgin.
Messy isn't even the word.
And of course, other women had only one piece of advice for this woman... Run.
Posting to Reddit, he said this:
"So me (32M) and my soon-to-be wife (23F) are planning to get married in a few months," he started. "I come from a very religious household with strong Christian [sic] beliefs and one of the traditions in my family is if the woman getting married isn't still a virgin they shouldn't wear a white dress on their wedding day."
And it seems as though when his mom asked him about his finance's virginity, he did not hold back.
"My family knows my soon-to-be wife wasn't a virgin when I met her because my mom asked me when I started dating her if she was pure, and I was honest and told her she had boyfriends before she met me."
What the f***?
He then shared that the woman first agreed to do as he said, but then grew nervous as the day got closer.
"My wife was really upset when I asked her if she could wear a colored dress on our wedding day, but she agreed, so we're looking at getting glittery blue dress instead," he continued. "Now she's saying she won't marry me because she's too humiliated by the whole situation, but I really don't see how it's a big deal."
He doesn't see it as a big deal because his "purity" is not on display, hers is.
The obvious disrespect is actually anger-inducing.
I just hope this woman dumped his a**. She deserves better.
