As Britney Spears begins her explosive conservatorship court battle, a clip has resurfaced online showing the singer performing despite her struggling with a 102F degree fever. Fans claim the video highlights the extreme emotional abuse she’s been put through over the years…
The video was filmed in Atlantic City at a concert back in July 2018 by a fan, Zachary Gordon, which shows the thirty-nine-year-old strutting across the stage seemingly in good spirits, before telling the audience she feels unwell.
She can be heard saying, “It’s going to be really, really hot up here – I’m warning you. I’m about to pass out. I’m sick.” Before adding, “I actually have a 102 fever right now”
This clip seemingly backs up her previous claims submitted to the court that she was forced to perform when she was sick. And fans are understandably shocked by the unearthed clip, with Gordon writing: “I just thought, ‘Wow, she’s such a trooper and cares so much to put on a show for her fans.’ Now I can see with clear eyes that this was a dig at the people controlling you, making you go onstage, performing under high-powered lights, all while you had a high-grade fever.”
Another said, “Unacceptable. Poor girl. How did she not collapse?”
While a third person wrote, “That’s horrible, not even shocked anymore at this. Poor Britney.”
The clip was made public just hours after Britney said her dad Jamie, sixty-eight, “should be in jail” during her conservatorship hearing in Los Angeles.
Her personal and financial affairs have been controlled by a court-ordered conservatorship since 2008, following a decision made after a series of public breakdowns which were plastered all over the media at the time.
Jamie was in charge of both aspects of his daughter’s conservatorship until September 2019, when he took time away after he became “seriously ill.” In November 2018, he was rushed to hospital after his colon “spontaneously ruptured,” causing him to undergo emergency surgery.
Since his brief exit, Britney has attempted to ban him from running her multimillion-dollar estate, which resulted in the court hearing on Wednesday.
According to The Independent, Britney told the court: “I am not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane. And I’m depressed. My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management… they should be in jail.
“The last time I spoke to you [the judge]… made me feel like I was dead. I am telling you again because I am not lying… so maybe you can understand the depth and the degree and the damages… I deserve changes.”
She added: “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. I don’t feel like I can live a full life.”
