28-year-old Clare Brown has revealed that she’s not allowed to access any of the $12 million her late father set aside for her because she doesn’t meet the requirements in his will.

Brown, from Western Sydney, is unable to gain access to the money until she “gets a job” and “contributes something to society,” something Brown thinks is unreasonable due to her “diagnosis.”

Brown opened up about her situation on 9 Now’s A Current Affair on Tuesday, where she urged the trust to “give me what is rightfully mine. I am suffering.”

“I have called myself a broke millionaire because I am broke constantly and can’t do anything about it,” Brown added.

However, Brown’s cousin, Jimmy, has said she can “access all the money [she] likes” if she just meets the requirements of the will. “One clause was to get a job. The second clause was to contribute something to society,” he added.

However, Brown has told her family to “please stop with the whole point of [her] getting a job.” As she believes her ADHD diagnosis makes it impossible for her to achieve the requirements.

“I understand why these people want me to be a functioning member of society, however, you have to look at my diagnosis and realize that is not going to happen,” Brown explained. “I am not going to learn how to drive because I have ADHD. I have the attention span of a gnat.”

Brown’s wife, Lauren has supported her claims, admitting that she “doesn’t have an executive function in [her] head,” adding that their “cats would not get fed, they would starve – because she would not remember that they need to eat.”

Both Brown and Lauren are currently living on welfare, however, Brown has worked before as a barista, but not long into her first shift, she realized it wasn’t going to work out.

She has taken her late father’s will to court to challenge the clauses on the grounds that she is “suffering,” because she hasn’t been given access to the inheritance that is “rightfully [hers],” despite not meeting the requirements.

Her cousin has hit back, claiming she is making excuses and said: “We’d like her to get a job and contribute to society. Instead of her agreeing to her dead dad’s wishes, she turned around and sued her trust.”

He added: “We are at our wit’s end. We have done nothing but love Clare.”
