And she’s built up quite the resume for herself over the last few decades.

She landed her first modeling job when she was just eleven months old in 1966…

In 1980, fourteen-year-old Shields was the youngest fashion model ever to appear on the cover of Vogue.

By the age of sixteen, she had become one of the most recognized faces in the United States because of her dual career as a fashion model and child actress.

Her first major film role was as a lead actress in Louis Malle’s Pretty Baby (1978), which was followed by a slightly less controversial and less notable film, Wanda Nevada (1979).

After 2 decades of movies, her best-known films are still arguably The Blue Lagoon (1980) and Endless Love (1981)…

And in 2001, Lifetime aired the movie What Makes a Family, starring Shields and Cherry Jones in a true story of a lesbian couple who fought the adoption laws of Florida.

The model has also made quite the name for herself in the world of TV and sitcoms…

But sadly, things haven’t always been smooth sailing.

She gave birth to her first child, Rowan Francis, in 2003 with husband Chris Henchy after suffering a miscarriage and undergoing several unsuccessful rounds of IVF.

3 years later, Shields gave birth to her second, daughter Grier Hammond Henchy at the age of forty.

Between April and May 2005, the actress spoke to magazines and appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to publicize her battle with postpartum depression…

An experience that included depression, thoughts of suicide, an inability to respond to her baby’s needs, and delayed maternal bonding.
She has continued to speak out about her experiences and advocates regularly for other women struggling with postnatal and postpartum depression.

Sheilds’ daughters are now in their teens and growing up so quickly…

And Rowan, who is eighteen, recently had her high school prom.

But instead of going for a brand-new prom dress, the teen decided to recreate one of her mom’s most iconic red carpet looks…

And people have been left blown away by her stunning outfit choice.

For those who may not remember, Shields wore a stunning red strapless gown to the event that quickly cemented itself as a timeless fashion staple.

“I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom. Proud mama!”

Doesn’t Rowan look just amazing?!
