Caitlyn Jenner has long been a proud Republican and during the 2016 Presidential Election, she threw her support behind fellow reality TV star Donald Trump in his efforts to become leader of the free world.

While many LGBTQ advocacy groups called out Trump for his lack of support on for their community, Jenner repeatedly defended the businessman-turned-politician, insisting in one interview that Trump “seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community.” And it’s that very bathroom issue that has turned the tables for Jenner, who very publicly revealed her transition from Bruce to Caitlyn in 2015.

As a response to the controversial bill, President Obama issued federal guidelines last year, which directed school districts to allow students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms which match their gender identities, and it was hailed as a huge victory for the LGBT community. But this week, President Trump rescinded these protections for transgender kids in schools, with his spokesman Sean Spicer basing the president’s decision on the belief that “states’ rights and that certain issues like this are not best dealt with at the federal level.”
