The use of face masks has long been a debate throughout this pandemic, with some people choosing to not wear one and others being totally against that.
But the discussion is no longer in California, as, now, everybody has to wear one.

With almost everywhere shutting down.

The world has looked abandoned.

Though, in the past few weeks, little bits of normality have been appearing again.

But, whilst things are getting back to normal, we must still take precautions.

In fact, some precautions are becoming mandatory in some places.

In some states, it has become mandatory to wear a face mask on certain occasions.

The latest state to introduce mandatory face masks is California.

To some people, it is no change, as they have been choosing to wear face-coverings regardless.

But others have issues with face masks...
via: Getty ImagesThey're also in short supply, as most countries need PPE right now...
Meaning that many people are having to make their own.

But the other issue is that many people have discovered how uncomfortable face masks can be.

They can also make it hard to breathe.

California's restriction was handed down by the governor on Thursday.
via: Getty ImagesAmid concerns that the hard work to decrease the virus could be reversed if people don't wear masks.
There was a concern that the public could be practicing lax social distancing.

Gov. Gavin Newsom provided a statement to address the change.
via: Getty ImagesHe said: "Simply put, we are seeing too many people with faces uncovered — putting at risk the real progress we have made in fighting the disease."
Under the statewide rule, people will have to wear a face mask or covering whilst inside a public space.

They are also now required when traveling in cabs or on public transport.

There are some exceptions, however.
via: Getty ImagesIt is not necessary for children under five or people with medical or mental disabilities to wear one. And, if people are walking, running, biking, or hiking with a distance of six meters from others, they are also exempt.
Despite the new requirements, nobody has disclosed how they will be enforced.
