Many think this has been a long time coming, but this year marks the historic induction of Carrie Fisher into the Hollywood Hall of Fame.

She’s had some truly iconic roles over the years and left a huge impact on the industry.

Hollywood legend Carrie Fisher is set to be one of the inductees of 2022.

Fisher had starring roles in Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The ‘Burbs (1989), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Soapdish (1991), and The Women (2008) and was nominated twice for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her performances on the television series 30 Rock and Catastrophe.

But there’s one role she’s known for above all else …

Fisher portrayed Princess Leia in the original Star Wars movies – and became synonymous with the role.
She was nominated for 4 Saturn Awards for her role and in 2017, she became a Disney Legend.

Fisher tragically died back in 2016 at the age of just sixty years old.

She was reported to stop breathing while on a plane. She was rushed to hospital and placed on a ventilator but passed away 4 days later on December 27th.
Her daughter Billie Lourd stated that Fisher “battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it. She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases… I know my Mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles.”

For years now, fans have believed she’d been overlooked for her place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – but now that’s all set to change.

Nerdist has speculated that Billie Lourd will be on hand to speak at the ceremony – though some are still harboring a hope Mark Hamill will be there in person, too.

Huge congratulations to Fisher – it’s so well deserved.

‚ÄčAnd Fisher isn’t the only star to receive this exciting honor this year. Also on the list are Francis Ford Coppola, Macaulay Culkin, Willem Dafoe, Salma Hayek, James Hong, Helen Hunt, Michael B. Jordan, Regina King, Ray Liotta, Ewan McGregor, Adam McKay, Jason Momoa, Tessa Thompson.
