The cause of death for three Americans who were found dead at a Bahamas resort has been confirmed.
This comes after the 3 people were tragically found dead at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on the island of Exuma on May 6, as per the New York Post.
Those who lost their lives were Tennesee couple Michael Philips, sixty-eight, and Robbie Philips, sixty-five, and a resident of Florida, Vincent Chiarella, sixty-four.
Police speculated that the cause of their death could have been a result of the food they were served.
Police Commissioner, Paul Rolle, said that they were investigating whether or not it was food that caused the tragic deaths of the 3 people at the resort.
“They were all treated at different times and they ate at different places,” he began.
“So… we’re checking all of that, which we will hopefully be able to determine whether or not it was some food or something else that caused it,” he continued.
Guests at the resort also reportedly said that they could smell a “strong odor,” according to the news outlet.
Michael, Robbie, Vincent, and his wife, Donnis, who survived after being hospitalized, suffering from paralysis and swollen limbs, all reportedly sought medical attention the night before they were found unresponsive.
Blood samples were taken, and they have now been tested and investigated by a clinic in George Town, which sent the samples to a lab in Philadelphia.
According to the New York Post, Bahamas officials also took samples of the rooms to see whether or not contaminants were related to their deaths.
The resort, as stated on its website, is the Caribbean’s leading luxury all-inclusive resort, and is the World Travel Awards winner of 2019.
Many celebrities have also been spotted frequenting the resort, as well. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Kyle Richards, was among one of the many celebrities who stayed at the resort with her husband.
And in 2016, there was also a celebrity golf weekend that was hosted, sighting Quinton Aaron starring in The Blind Side, and Sasha Pieterse from the television series Pretty Little Liars.
And so, as the investigation into the deaths of the three vacationers continued, it seemed that the cause of the heartbreaking losses seemed to be a mystery.
But now, the cause of death has been confirmed.
A medical examiner has confirmed that the cause of death is a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.
However, the families of those who have sadly lost their lives have demanded that a second autopsy be carried out.
This is in addition to the one conducted by a Bahamian pathologist.
Dr. Michael Darville also spoke out, expressing that the pathologists have done their job sufficiently, with the samples being “sent to a very reliable lab in the United States.”
We cannot imagine how the families of the 3 vacationers are feeling right now.
Rest in peace, Michael Philips, Robbie Philips, and Vincent Chiarella.
