Being a child star can’t be easy—and plenty of your favorite kid celebrities have slipped up in their teenage years and beyond. Their rebellion often comes with serious consequences, from DUI charges to public notoriety.

Let’s see who’s gone off the rails and who’s made it back on track.

 

Shia LaBeouf

The former star of Disney’s Even Stevens was charged with “disorderly conduct and criminal trespass” in 2014 after disrupting a performance of Cabaret on Broadway. In 2017, he was also arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and obstruction.

Dustin Diamond

Diamond is best known for playing Screech on Saved by the Bell. In 2014, he was arrested for possession of a switchblade knife, which he was said to have pulled during a bar fight. After serving three months in prison, he was released on probation.

Amanda Bynes

Bynes shot to stardom on All That and The Amanda Show. Her personal problems came to a head in 2012 and 2013, when she was in several car accidents, was charged with a DUI, and was caught smoking marijuana in the lobby of her apartment building.

The Full House actor started drinking alcohol at age 14, shortly after the show ended. Over the following 15 years, she used ecstasy, meth, crack, and other drugs, and documented her struggles in her memoir unSweetined. She’s been sober since December 2008. Orlando Brown

He played Eddie in the Disney Channel show That’s So Raven.  He was charged with battery of a spouse, resisting a police officer, and possession of a controlled substance in January 2018. Later in 2018, he was arrested for felony narcotics possession, misdemeanor, drug paraphernalia, and resisting a police officer.

Lindsay Lohan

The star of The Parent Trap and Mean Girls has had her fair share of troubles, ranging from over-the-top partying to DUIs to a tumultuous relationship with her family. These days, she lives in Dubai and owns a beach club in Mykonos, Greece.

Waylett played Vincent Crabbe in the first six Harry Potter movies, but in 2009 was charged with possession of cannabis. In 2011, he was sentenced to two years in prison for participating in London riots.

Justin Bieber

Britney Spears

Drew Barrymore

Barrymore started her career in E.T., and her childhood was a troubled one as a result of her sudden stardom. She started smoking cigarettes at age 9, drinking alcohol at 11, smoking marijuana at 12, and snorting cocaine at 13. She entered rehab at age 14 and eventually emancipated herself and moved into her own apartment at 15.

In 2008, the singer was busted with less than 2 ounces of marijuana. In September 2017, he tested positive for “a mixture of benzodiazepines with opiates,” and entered a rehabilitation program shortly afterward.

Osment became famous when he starred in The Sixth Sense alongside Bruce Willis in 1999. In 2006, he was in a car accident and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and misdemeanor drug possession.

Mitchel Musso
