Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Opening a Coffee Shop, and We're Going to Be First in Line | 22 Words

Fixer Upper fans, take note: soon you’ll have yet another reason to make the trek to Waco, Texas. Chip and Joanna Gaines, HGTV stars and shiplap aficionados, are expanding their Magnolia empire to include a coffee shop.

The Gaineses have helped revitalize the town of Waco through their shopping complex, Magnolia Market at the Silos. In November of 2016, the first full year the market was open, they reported 1.9 million visits, and hotel revenues in Waco saw a 19 percent increase.

Needless to say, Magnolia Market was and is a huge draw for tourists from all over the country. In addition to a 12,000-square-foot retail store to explore, the Market also offers a food truck park with picnic tables, a garden store, a bakery, and a lawn area. The complex’s newest addition is a coffee shop —read on to find out what we know so far about the project.

The cafe will be a block away from the Silos.

Tired shoppers will be able to refuel in the coffee shop, which is taking over space that was previously occupied by a Crossfit gym.

It doesn’t have a name yet.

But they’re planning to start working on the project in March.

Watch out, Starbucks.

A spokesperson said that plans include “a full-service coffee bar, fresh-baked pastries and an assortment of teas."

It’s safe to say they won’t have a shortage of customers.

After all, the Silos see an estimated 30,000 visitors per week.

You’ll be able to sit and sip or grab and go.

The shop is going to have a to-go window as well as indoor and outdoor seating areas.

But don’t get too excited.

You’ll have to wait a little while before you can visit—they plan to open the shop at the end of the year.

This isn’t Chip and Joanna’s first foray into the food world, either.

They have a restaurant called Magnolia Table, also located in (you guessed it!) Waco.

It opened early in 2018, and it looks amazing.

The menu offers delicious-looking breakfast and lunch options, from pancakes and donuts to tater tots and burgers.

It’s beautiful inside and out.

With a Spanish-inspired clay tile roof, it’s a striking location — we can’t wait to see what the coffee shop looks like!

The restaurant was born of Chip’s love for breakfast.

He told Southern Living, “I’ve always been a breakfast connoisseur, I always do a heavy, bigger breakfast, but Jo is the exact opposite. She was kind enough to come with me on this one, and we are going to do up a breakfast joint here in town."

If you’re planning a visit, you might want to get there early.

It’s open from 6 am to 3 pm on Monday through Saturday, but they don’t accept reservations.

While you’re there, you might as well check out the bakery.

It’s called Silos Baking Co., and it’s got sweet treats galore.

Chow down on Joanna’s personal recipes.

Try The Prize Pig, a bacon and cheddar biscuit, or the Cup o’ Jo, a chocolate cupcake with espresso buttercream.

Still hungry for more?

Head outside and grab a bite at one of the food trucks, offering everything from pizza to sweet tea.

Of course, you can’t miss the Market itself.

It’s a dream come true for anyone who’s obsessed with home decor.

After you’re shopped out, head outside to the lawn.

It’s the centerpiece of the property, and it’s the place to be on sunny days.

Crack out one of their fun lawn games.

Play a round of cornhole or compete in potato sack races.

Stroll over to the garden area, too.

Check out the beds filled with seasonal produce and pretty flowers.

Flex your green thumb in the garden shop.

The Magnolia Seed and Supply company sell gardening tools, flower-growing kits for kids, and more.

Can’t make it down to Waco to see it all for yourself?

You can still achieve that Fixer Upper look in your own home thanks to their online shop.

Needless to say, Chip and Joanna have been pretty busy lately.

The fifth and final season of Fixer Upper aired last year, but their empire is still going strong.

They’ve got big plans for the future.

They’re currently developing a “lifestyle-focused media network" with Discovery.

You can even make some of Joanna’s recipes yourself.

Her cookbook, Magnolia Table, includes family favorites and dishes served at their restaurants.

The cookbook came out last year and it was a huge success.

In fact, it was the best-selling cookbook of 2018.

It had sold more than 1.3 million copies by November 2018.

That’s a huge deal in the book world — it was number 2 across all categories in 2018, second only to Michelle Obama’s memoir.

Chip has a book of his own, too.

And it’s punny: Capital Gaines.

The subtitle says it all.

“Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff." It gives readers an inside look at Chip’s approach to business and life.

They even have their own magazine.

The Magnolia Journal is a quarterly lifestyle magazine that promises to share inspiration for your home and life.

If you can’t get enough of the Gaineses, you’re in luck.

With new projects being announced left and right, it’s safe to say they’re here to stay.

Now excuse us, we need to plan a trip to Waco!

Um...and a home renovation. Be sure to share this article with your Magnolia-obsessed friends!
