Chris Evans Says He Wishes the Same-Sex Kiss in ‘Lightyear’ ‘Didn’t Even Have To Be News’

Actor Chris Evans is very ‘happy’ that Disney has included the same-sex kiss in his upcoming movie, Lightyear.

At the premiere of the Disney Pixar movie on June 8, Evans told Variety that: “The first time you have to do that iconic line, ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ you kind of just do a shameless Tim Allen impression. It’s intimidating.”

The Captain American actor even branded critics of the same-sex kiss in the movie as ‘idiots’…

Evans expressed his frustration, saying: “The real truth is those people are idiots.” Adding: “This is the representation across the board of how we make films.”

Since then Lightyear has been banned in countries like: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait…

The decision comes after Disney Pixar included the same-sex kiss between two lesbian characters in the movie.

The Ministry of Youth and Culture in the UAE told The Los Angeles Times that the movie: “Violated the country’s media content standards.”

Even LGBTQ employees and allies at Pixar Animation Studios rejoiced at the decision to include the kiss…

According to reports, employees at Pixar Animation Studios were unhappy with Disney’s decision to cut out the kiss scene, which erupted in protests – eventually putting immense pressure on Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek to reconsider.

Later this week, the kiss was added back into the movie, ahead of its release on June 17.

In fact, Chris hopes things change in the future for movies to accept LGBTQ content in Disney movies without the fuss…
