Pro-wrestling star Chris Jericho has donated $2,500 to the family of the Uber driver who was tragically killed last week in a carjacking...
And he spoke about how the terrible situation "hit him hard."
Here's the full story...
Warning: This article contains information that some readers may find upsetting.
Now, the disturbing incident took place on Tuesday last week in Washington DC.
2 teenage girls, aged thirteen and fifteen, were seen trying to hijack Uber driver Mohammad Anwar's car but ended up crashing it and killing him in the process.
They targeted the vehicle while Mr. Anwar was out on shift for Uber Eats.
In the shocking footage that has been circulating online, the girls can be seen trying to enter the car before allegedly attacking the driver with a taser.
Police later confirmed that they did use the weapon in order to stun Mr. Anwar.
"This is my car!" He shouts in the video. "They're thieves!"
However, the girls don't show any signs of stopping as they get into the vehicle and put their foot down on the accelerator, dragging Mr. Anwar, who was hanging out of the car, with them.
It's only a few seconds before the car crashes into a fence and flipped onto its side.
Smoke could be seen coming from the wreckage with the perpetrators who were seemingly unhurt immediately getting out of harm's way.
But sadly, Mr. Anwar was thrown from the vehicle and he was seen lying unresponsive on the sidewalk.
After he was taken to hospital, it was announced that Mr. Anwar had suffered several broken bones and sustained a serious head injury...
And he was sadly pronounced dead later in the day.
Mohammad Anwar was a Pakistani man who immigrated to the States in 2014.
The father of 3 made a living from doing Uber Eats as he was described as the "sole bread-winner" of his family.
National Guardsmen near the scene of the crash detained the girls who were responsible for this terrible tragedy...
And they held them until police arrived at the scene.
It was reported that one of them even asked about her phone that was apparently still inside the vehicle while not being fazed at all that she had just killed a man.
The suspects have since been detained and are being charged with felony murder.
Their identities cannot be released as they are both juvenile, but the details that have been released state that the thirteen-year-old is from southeast DC and the fifteen-year-old is from Fort Washington, Maryland.
The news of the incident has shocked and disgusted everyone, with many calling out for justice for the driver.
Nope that video of the Uber driver Mohammed Anwar has made me sick to my stomach, the fact the girl was more worried about her phone than the man she had just killed. May he get the justice he deserves, inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon

I'm amazed that the video of the carjacking and felony murder of the Uber Eats driver outside Nationals Park hasn't gotten more attention.

my dad has been an uber driver for many years now, and that’s how he makes a living. many ppl don’t realize that being a uber/lyft driver, door dasher, etc is how ppl feed their families. RESPECT THEM.

Upon hearing about the terrible event, his family spoke to WUSA9 about their loss...
"The family is devastated by this senseless crime. Mohammad Anwar was a father, a grandfather, a husband, a brother, and uncle beloved by many here in the United States and in Pakistan, his birth country."
Mr. Anwar's niece has launched a GoFundMe to help pay for a traditional Islamic funeral for her uncle.

The description reads:
"Mohammad Anwar was a hard-working Pakistani immigrant who came to the United States to create a better life for him and his family. He was simply at work yesterday evening, providing for his family when his life was tragically taken in an appalling act of violence. The details are still being investigated, however, we know that Anwar was working on an UberEats delivery when two assailants attempted to carjack him in Navy Yard."
It continued:

"Words can not describe how our family is feeling currently. Devastation, confusion, shock, anger, heartache, and anguish are just a few that come to mind. We will carry him with us always, but it doesn't take the pain away of losing him so tragically and so unexpectedly soon."
At the time of writing, a staggering $941,660 has been raised for Mr. Anwar's family...
Out of respect for Mohammad Anwar and his family no one should be sharing the video, imagine that was your fathers death being broadcasted all over socials. Please be mindful and respectful of our deceased brother May Allah grant him jannatul firdous and ease his families pain
— Z E Y N A B (@zeynoobaa) March 28, 2021
And although nothing will take away their pain and bring back their beloved father, the money will at least secure the traditional funeral they all desperately want for their loved one.
Mr. Anwar's death has hit everyone so hard...
Imagine coming to a country for a better future and trying to make ends meet with your job only to be senselessly murdered. Can’t imagine how helpless Mohammad Anwar must’ve felt in his last moments, as the bystanders stood there being useless

Including the rich and famous.
Pro-wrestling star Chris Jericho spoke to TMZ recently about how hard the situation and Mr. Anwar's death has hit him.
"I just thought the whole situation was terrible and it really hit me hard," he said.
"Just the feeling of terror he must've had being stuck halfway out of the car as the thieves - mere children - hit the gas. Something out of a horror movie."
This is what prompted the wrestler to donate $2,500 directly to Mr. Anwar's family.
"It's not much, but it's the most I could do to try and bring some light into a dark situation," he said of his generous donation.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Anwar.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family during this terrible time.
This is a developing story and updates will be posted accordingly.
