This is any parent’s worst nightmare…
The distraught mom made an emotional announcement last night and it’s utterly devastating to read.
The pair got together over a decade ago and have gone from strength to strength ever since.
“We get to the Maldives and he had planned this beautiful Christmas. He knows how much I love Christmas…And this waiter comes out with a silver dome for dessert…So he opens up the dome and a ton of arugula falls out and then I kind of fish in it…And I see the little box and then you know, your heart stops and you get so excited,” Chrissy explained in an interview.
“There was no big grand speech or anything. I think it was just very lovely and sweet.”
But they (legally) got married in an NYC courthouse, a day before traveling to Italy.
The two are a pivotal part of the celebrity scene and their fans lap it up (especially where Chrissy’s relatable social media posts are concerned… let’s be honest, she’s comedy gold!)
And their little family is simply the cutest.
Chrissy gave birth to their daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, on April 14, 2016, and son, Miles Theodore Stephens, on May 16, 2018.
And by that, we mean she posts the ins and outs of being a mom.
And she perfectly outlines the tiring but wonderful experience of raising 2 young children.
Because last month, they announced they were expecting their third baby!
Via music video, of course.
The video was for John’s new track, “Wild”, and it showed the couple frolicking around on a white linen bed on the beach.
“I wanna drive you wild, wild, wild. I wanna love you for miles and miles. We can go slow, we don’t need to rush. I’ll take the wheel, make you feel every touch. I wanna drive you wild, wild, wild.”
We get an unexpected, yet very exciting shot of the pair.
Yep, the Legends were officially going to be a family of 5.
And they all walk towards the ocean together as a family.
And clearly, the family was overjoyed at the prospect of a new arrival.
Because we all know how tiring it is to be pregnant! But luckily for her, 4-year-old Luna was on hand to make life as easy as possible.
Luna was very hands-on at the ultra-sound…
And she even held the transducer over her mom’s stomach that allowed the family to see the outline and heartbeat of the baby!
Chrissy was placed on “super serious bed rest” due to a weak placenta and little Luna had been running around making sure her mom doesn’t lift a finger.
And Chrissy shared an adorable snap of Luna washing her hair.
“Every day she makes me a warm (not hot, chill!) bath and refuses to let me wash my own hair ? girls, man. @johnlegend how did we get so lucky with lulu??” she wrote.
Reports came in recently that Chrissy had been hospitalized.
“So, we all know I’ve been on bed rest for a few weeks. And that’s like super serious bed rest, like get up to quickly pee and that’s it. I would take baths twice a week, no showering. I was always, always bleeding… I’m about halfway through pregnancy and blood has been going for a month…maybe a little less than a month. But we’re talking more than your period, girls, but definitely not spotting. A lot of people spot and it’s usually fine. Mine was a lot.”
“But honestly, just laying there would be blood,” she said.
“But today, the big difference was that it kind of was like if you were to turn a faucet onto low and leave it there. It’s so weird because I feel really good… I’m usually at my happiest pregnant, mood-wise. I feel happier than I do not pregnant. That’s why it’s so hard for me to come to terms with. It was at the point today where it was never stopping bleeding.”
“You have to trust me that I have very good doctors who know what they’re doing, who know the entire story,” she said.
“There’s so much more than you can ever imagine. I share a lot, but not absolutely everything. So trust me when I say they know and I just want to keep things so simple for you guys.”
“But I feel really good. The baby is so healthy, growing stronger than Luna or Miles. He moves a lot. He moves so much earlier than they ever did. He’s strong. I’m so excited for him because he’s so wonderful, the strongest little dude. So, I can’t wait for him.”
It was announced late last night that Chrissy and John tragically lost their third unborn child.
And it’s clear how painful losing an unborn child really can be.
In an emotional statement, she started by saying:
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
“We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
“To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you. Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.”
We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But every day can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will “hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
We can’t imagine how much pain she’s feeling right now.
Our deepest condolences go out to John, Chrissy, and their family during this tragic time.
