Christian Bale Was Paid Less Than the Makeup Artists for ‘American Psycho’

Claims that Christian Bale was paid less than the makeup artists for one of his hit movies have left the internet shocked.

The actor is well known for his performance in American Psycho, where he plays a rich yuppie who spends his nights committing murders across New York City.

Bale plays a former boxer who’s seen better days and is failing to train his up-and-coming younger brother in the sport.

His character Trevor suffers from insomnia and brutal emaciation, and Bale famously lost a stunning amount of weight for the role.

But it seems as though the star had some humble beginnings.

Because some recent revelations about Bale’s paycheck have left the internet shook.

“That movie made him famous and gave him the opportunity to play other roles that got him millions. I think that’s more than enough,” one person wrote.

“Nobody wanted me to do it except the director,” Bale told GQ.

“So they said they would only make it if they could pay me that amount.”

“I was prepping for it when other people were playing the part. I was still prepping for it. And, you know, it moved on. I lost my mind. But I won it back.

“In honesty, the first thing was that I’d taken so long trying to do it, and they had paid me the absolute minimum they were legally allowed to pay me,” he continued.

“And I had a house that I was sharing with my dad and my sister and that was getting repossessed.

“So the first thing was, ‘Holy crap. I’ve got to get a bit of money,’ because I’ve got ‘American Psycho’ done, but I remember one time sitting in the makeup trailer, and the makeup artists were laughing at me because I was getting paid less than any of them,” Bale said.

“And so that was my motivation after that, was just, ‘I got to get enough that the house doesn’t get repossessed,’” he revealed.
