Ding, ding, ding!

Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly almost got into a physical altercation at last night's VMA awards and we were all left clutching our pearls upon watching the footage... Have a look for yourselves.

Now, while the VMAs are typically known for celebrating the best music has to offer, sometimes they're known for something else...

The scandals.

And this year's hot topic was none other than Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly getting into a fight on the red carpet.

Things went from zero to a hundred pretty quickly...

Sources at the scene have told multiple outlets including TMZ and PEOPLE that McGregor wanted to get a picture with Machine Gun Kelly but as he approached his security, he was pushed back. And we all know what happens to the MMA fighter's ego any time he feels disrespected... He sees red.

So in true McGregor fashion, he took a lunge for the "Bloody Valentine" singer.

In the snapshots taken of the incident, you can see the fighter's fists flying, hoping to land at least 1 or 2 solid right hands on the singer, who seemed unfazed by his attempts. But then again, he did have a few security guards protecting him.

Later on, the Irish mixed martial artist told Entertainment Tonight that "nothing happened."

"Absolutely nothing. I don't know. He showed up, and I don't know. I don't know the guy," McGregor told Rachel Smith.

"Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters, people that actually fight, you know what I mean," he continued. "I certainly don't fight little vanilla boy rappers. I don't even know the guy. I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."

Oh okay, it didn't look like "nothing" when you put your body on the line to attack someone on the red carpet. If you've not heard yet, a few months ago, McGregor sustained a serious ankle injury after he lost his fight to Dustin Poirier. That explains the cane he was using to help him walk during the event. Of course, it was tossed to the side when he wanted to fight MGK, but we'll move on from that... Yikes.

Anyway, the altercation subsequently ended with McGregor throwing a drink onto MGK's entourage.

The singer and his girlfriend, Megan Fox, who was also present when things kicked off, threatened not to pose for any more photos if McGregor was present. The pair left the carpet until the fighter was gone and later returned for another photo-op before the event got underway. Phew. That was a lot.

I wonder if this will escalate to a proper fight in the Octagon? We'll just have to wait and see.
