Now, we have heard a lot of strange conspiracy theories over the years but this has to be one of the strangest of them all... There's an America-led conspiracy theory that birds don't actually exist.

Birds Aren't Real is a conspiracy movement that claims birds aren't actually real as the government has "replaced every living bird with robotic replicas."

"Once a preventative cause, our initial goal was to stop the genocide of real birds. Unfortunately, this was unsuccessful and the government has since replaced every living bird with robotic replicas. Now our movement's prerogative is to make everyone aware of this fact," the website reads.

The movement is said to have started back in 1976.

According to LadBible, followers of the movement believe that the government massacred roughly 12 billion birds with a secret virus and since then, they have carefully been replaced with covert spy technology. The initial aim was to stop all the bird poo from being dropped.

Leader of the movement, Peter McIndoe said: "I think the evidence is all around us, birds sit on power lines, we believe they're charging on power lines, we believe that bird poop on cars is liquid tracking apparatus."

Recently, the people behind the theory have started to raise awareness of it. Last weekend saw the leaders embark on a tour of the U.S with the aim of spreading the word, starting in Springfield.

Many people attended the first march of the tour, unsurprising given their large social media presence used to spread the word.

Birds Aren't Real has an Instagram following of more than 325,000 people.

Sharing a video from the Springfield march to Instagram, they wrote: "This is the year we rise up. Thank you Springfield for marching with us last night, we love you. Where should we go next?"

A statement by the group has been released, LadBible report, in which they said: "Our movement is quickly approaching a critical juncture. As we grow stronger in number, more and more highly classified information is being relayed to us by whistleblowers across the nation. Expect massive leaks soon."

So, what do you think? Do birds exist or do you believe the wild conspiracy theory?
