Cops have been penalized over the death of Bob Saget.
This comes as they leaked news of Saget’s death.
Scroll on to find out more…
The tragic news of Saget’s death broke on Sunday January 9th.
The star was tragically found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando.
Saget was best known for playing Danny Tanner in the ’80s sitcom, Full House.
The popular sitcom ran from 1987 to 1995 with Saget later reprising the role in 2016 for a Netflix reboot, Fuller House.
Fuller House ran for 4 years.
Saget’s career included a role in Entourage and a popular podcast series named, Bob Saget’s Here for You.
He also voiced the narrator for How I Met Your Mother.
Saget was part-way through a standup comedy tour when the unthinkable happened…
He had performed a show in Jacksonville the night prior to his death.
He was found unresponsive in his hotel room by staff at the Ritz-Carlton.
Local authorities were called to the hotel, but Saget was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passing was confirmed in an initial statement by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, as per The Daily Mail.
In the statement, police revealed that they had responded to “a man down” call “just after 4 p.m.”
“On arrival, they located a man who was unresponsive in a hotel room,” it read, the outlet reports.
“The man, identified as Robert Lane Saget, was pronounced deceased on scene.”
According to the Ritz, where he was staying at the time, Bob entered his room at 2:17 AM after returning from his show…
He was supposed to check out just hours later.
Before entering his room for the final time, Bob tweeted at 12:42 AM, with a picture of him onstage after completing his show…
His family tried multiple times to get hold of him later that morning, with no luck, which prompted them to ask a Ritz-Carlton Hotel security staffer to check on him.
An Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy stated in his report that the staff member knocked on Bob’s door multiple times before going in around 4 PM, to find all the lights off.
They searched the room and found Bob in the bedroom, lying on the bed with his left arm across his chest and right to his side.
According to their report, he was cold to the touch and had no detectable pulse.
When EMS arrived, they pronounced Bob dead on the scene.
More than a week on from his passing, Saget’s family laid him to rest.
According to TMZ, Saget’s funeral took place at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.
Around 300 people were in attendance for the funeral.
Among them were family and friends such as Chris Rock, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Seth Green, the outlet reports.
The funeral was mostly a private service with very few details known.
However, it is known that John Stamos and Dave Coulier were pallbearers at Saget’s funeral along with John Mayer, Norman Lear, Jeff Ross, Steve Hale and Ted Sarandos.
A week on from his funeral, widow, Kelly Rizzo spoke out about the last conversation the pair shared before he died.
Rizzo told Hoda Kotb that their last conversation was “all love.”
“It was all ‘I love you so much.’ I think I said, ‘I love you dearly,’ and then he said, ‘I love you endlessly,’ and then I said, ‘I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.’ It was just all love.”
Then a month after his passing, his cause of death was finally confirmed.
As per TMZ, Saget reportedly died of a brain bleed after he hit the back of his head.
He allegedly struck the back of his head shortly after arriving at the hotel.
After finding out the news, Saget’s family made a statement: “Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.”
Adding: “The authorities have determined that Bob passed away from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”
They concluded: “As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.”
Then more information came out about his autopsy…
A report made by the Orange County Medical Examiner stated that Saget was found with multiple skull fractures.
They wrote that this was due to “an unwitnessed fall backwards” where he hit “the posterior aspect of his head.”
As a result of the fatal blow, which also left abrasions to his scalp, he also had bruising to his eyelids.
His cause of death has been registered as “blunt head trauma” causing subdural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Saget’s family then filed a lawsuit against the medical examinor and Orange County Sheriff officials for releasing more information to the public…
Kelly Rizzo, and his 3 daughters, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer set up the suit to make sure no other information comes out about the star’s death.
They want to keep the remainder of the investigation private as it “would cause irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress” if anything else came out.
The suit states that “no legitimate public interest would be served by the release or dissemination of the records to the public.”
It seems the information they were trying to keep secret was that Saget’s head injury was actually worse than we all thought…
His fractures “caused bleeding across both sides of his brain,” according to the autopsy report, which also said there was an “unmistakably serious set of injuries that would at the very least have probably left someone confused.”
Physician Dr. Jeffrey Bazarian told NYT that the fracture was so bad it was “like an egg cracking,” in that if you “hit it in one spot, it can crack from the back to the front.”
Dr. Bazarian also revealed that it was unlikely that Saget thought nothing of the incident, adding: “I doubt he was lucid.”
Another doctor told NYT: “This is something I find with someone with a baseball bat to the head, or who has fallen from 20 or 30 feet.”
It’s still not known how or where he could have caused the severe injury.
Sheriff Deputies called Saget’s passing an “unusual case.”
“It’s definitely a strange case,” an Orange County Deputy Sheriff said, as reported by People. “Still a lot of unanswered questions.”
But, according to the news outlet, a theory has been accumulated by investigators.
Authorities believe that Saget lost consciousness in the bathroom, falling back onto the floor, and hitting his head. According to the police, he then woke up and crawled into bed, where he passed away.
With details surrounding his passing emerging, a judge granted Saget’s family with an injunction to prevent any more information coming out.
“The entire Saget family is grateful that the judge granted their request for an injunction to preserve Bob’s dignity, as well as their privacy rights, especially after suffering this unexpected and tragic loss,” attorney, Brian Bieber said in a statement, as per People.
“We are pleased this issue has been resolved, and the healing process can continue to move forward,” Bieber continued.
“All of the prayers and well wishes continuously extended to the family are beyond appreciated.”
But, while an injuction has been granted, new information has emerged about how Saget was feeling prior to his show on the night of his death.
He allegedly didn’t “feel good.”
According to audio obtained by Page Six, showrunner Rosalie Cocci told Orange County police that he said he didn’t “feel good.”
In an interview after the Saget’s death, Cocci told police: “I did hear him say, ‘I don’t feel good but I’m ready to do the show. This is what I do this for.'”
She said he seemd to be “talking himself up.”
The oultet reports that Cocci also alleged that Saget was struggling with his hearing.
“He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night,” she said. “He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up.”
Cocci went on to say that Saget had “a sore throat” and was “happy he had lozenges for the stage.”
While also claiming to police that Saget said he was suffering from “long-term COVID” which was “taking his body a long time to get over it.”
However, despite claiming he didn’t feel good, Cocci said that Saget “seemed OK” during his comedy show.
“He wasn’t sweating, he didn’t miss a beat, nothing slurred. He came out very energetic,” she reportedly said.
Cocci even noted that he was “cracking jokes.”
And now, two deputies from the Florida Orange County police department have been penalized.
It comes after they improperly leaked the information of the star’s death before his family was notified.
According to INSIDER, Deputies Emiliano Silva and Steven Reed had breached the dissemination of information directive by telling their family and friends about the death of the actor.
According to a report that INSIDER obtained, it: “Resulted in an influx of media inquiries at a time when Mr. Saget’s next-of-kin had not been notified and Homicide Unit detectives had not even arrived at the scene.”
One of the deputies, Silva, had messaged his brother talking about the death, and his brother then tweeted that he had died.
“Hindsight, probably shouldn’t have shared it in the way and the manner that I did,” Reed, who wasn’t at the scene when he texted his friends about the death, said in a disciplinary interview.
The deputies were suspended for eighty-one hours without pay.
