Eliz Orbin and her partner have created an online firestorm.

The couple, from Colorado, recently shared their experience of attempting to travel to New York with their 2-year-old daughter, Edeline, for a Christmas break.

They were traveling from Denver to Newark...

With the hopes to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City, something they say they do every year.

However, once onboard their United Airlines flight, they ran into difficulties.

Edeline refused to put on her face mask, thus prompting cabin crew to come over and threaten to remove them from the flight.

She shared a video on Instagram to show the toddler's defiance...

And her partner could be seen - quite half-heartedly, might I add - trying to put the mask on her.

Eliz then filmed herself in tears...

Where she claimed the airline had "banned her for life," something which United have since denied.

The airline said at the time in a statement:

"The health and safety of our employees and customers is our highest priority, which is why we have a multi-layered set of policies, including mandating that everyone onboard two and older wear a mask. These procedures are not only backed by guidance from the CDC and our partners at the Cleveland Clinic, but they’re also consistent across every major airline."

However, instead of simply going home and spending Christmas there...

Eliz and her partner had a different idea entirely.

Posting on her social media, Eliz explained that they were heading to Palm Beach in Florida with Delta without Edeline in case it happened again.

She also added that they were flying first class after another social media user offered to pay for their flights after the incident. Eliz wrote: "It breaks our heart that we couldn’t bring our daughter, we tried calling the airlines and couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone and we could honestly just not go through again what we went through on Friday. Just driving to the airport today was super triggering."

Her post continued:

"Our daughter is in the best hands at home, and as hard as it is that she’s not here- knowing how much love she is surrounded by gives us so much peace. We couldn’t bear to take her through what we went through again.⁣.. I STILL feel humiliated, traumatized, and triggered by what happened. But the amount of messages I have gotten by people being on our side and experiencing similar situations has truly been overwhelmingly beautiful.⁣" ⁣
