Courteney Cox Doesn't Remember Being on 'Friends' | 22 Words

It's safe to say that Friends is one of the greatest and the most binge-able TV shows of all time.

It's hard to find someone who hasn't watched the entire 10 seasons, but believe it or not, Monica herself is one of these people.

Courteney Cox is binge-watching Friends for the first time ever during isolation...because she has no memory of filming, and there's a heartbreaking reason why.

In all seriousness...

Who hasn't watched Friends?

10 seasons of pure joy have graced our screens...

And we wouldn't have it any other way.

The comedy sitcom is perhaps one of the most popular of its kind...

And it all started back in 1994.

Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman...

The sitcom revolves around 6 friends in their mid-20s who live in Manhattan, New York City.

Friends is arguably one of the most successful sitcoms of all time.

And it boasts a huge and seemingly ever-lasting fan base.

It is both hilarious and relatable at the same time...

And anybody in their 20s figuring out their life can totally relate to each and every season.

The show ran for 10 seasons...

And over the years, us fans fell completely in love with each unique character.

The 6 main characters rocketed the actors to worldwide fame...

David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry all found that their lives had changed forever after the first season.

And they couldn't have been cast better.

We all know a neat-freak like Monica, a science nerd like Ross, a fashionista like Rachel, a hippy-vegetarian like Phoebe, a joker like Chandler, and a foodie like Joey.

The show, along with its incredible cast, has won countless awards over the years...

And since the series finale in 2004, it still remains to be one of the most-watched TV shows of all time.

We grew to become incredibly attached to these characters...

The show truly made us feel like a member of the Friends gang, even when we were conflicted over whether Ross and Rachel really were on a break or not... FYI they totally were on a break.

The final episode aired in September 2004...

And we watched through our tears as the gang said their final goodbyes to the apartment we had all grown to know and love for the past decade.

It was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least.

Monica and Chandler were starting a family, Phoebe was newly married, Rachel had a new job in Paris... As with a lot of friendships, the gang had grown apart and were embarking upon their separate journeys.

Oh, and Rachel got off the plane...

Fans rejoiced as Ross and Rachel finally put their differences aside and got back together.

But, fifteen years on from Rachel getting off the plane...

We have never found out what happened to the gang. Did Rachel and Ross stay together? Would Monica and Chandler ever get divorced? Did Joey ever make it as a big actor?

Over the years, there have been a few low-key reunions and a lot of false hope...

Apart from the occasional reunion on talk-shows, fans have had their fair share of disappointments when it comes to waiting for a Friends reunion.

A trailer for a Friends movie went viral last year, giving superfans false hope that the sitcom was hitting the box office...

But it wasn't to be. The trailer was quickly confirmed to be fake and, again, our dreams were shattered.

And even the cast have confirmed in the past that a reunion is incredibly unlikely...

Matt Le Blanc left fans heartbroken last year as he rejected calls for the show to return, saying the sitcom simply “wouldn’t be the same" in an interview with the Mail Online. He added, “People want to know what happened to them. But it was about a finite period in a person’s life after college, before you settle down and start a family."

And it isn't just the cast who have their doubts...

The show’s co-creator Marta Kauffman, says she constantly gets “nagged" by fans to bring the sitcom back. “Watch the old ones – there is no way we could win that. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen. We’ll never do it," she said in an interview with Deadline.

Cast members have teased this possibility over the years...

And finally, a cast and producer reunion was confirmed earlier this year, much to global delight.

Original cast members announced this exciting reunion in a very special way...

By posting the same throwback photo, of course!

The reunion was originally set to air in May this year...

Exclusively on HBO Max.

And it's safe to say...

Courteney Cox was extremely excited.

Speaking with Kevin Nealon on Hiking with Kevin, Courteney explained what the show would involve...

She said, "So the exciting thing is that we're all going to get together for the first time, in a room, and actually talk about the show, and it's going to be on HBO Max, and I'm so excited."

It was due to be a first time thing...

"We're going to have the best time. It's going to be great. We really haven't all done that and actually sat there and talked about and reminisced about this incredible experience that we had. It's gonna be fantastic," she went on to explain.

But since the outbreak of the pandemic...

Filming in the entertainment industry has come to a halt, including or the reunion of Friends.

So in the meantime...

All we can do is binge-watch the entire of the 10 seasons... which is exactly what I am doing as I type this.

Right now is the best time for binge-watching TV shows...

We are currently living through a pandemic crisis, which has left millions around the world self-isolating in their homes.

This self-isolating certainly doesn't exclude the rich and famous...

And Courteney Cox is one of them.

As many of us have realized...

Being cooped up indoors for weeks on end isn't as fun as it sounds, and it is important to pass the time. Courteney has very much realized this too, and she has decided to try out something new.

Believe it or not...

Courteney has never watched Friends the full way through.

But she's now willing to give it a go.

Appearing on a live stream with Jimmy Kimmel's new "Minilogue" series, Courteney and Jimmy started talking about Friends (of course!).

She explained to Jimmy that she is self-isolating the right way...

And we should be doing the exact same thing!

She's decided to watch the whole 10 seasons...

Because she can't actually remember what happened.

Shocking, I know...

Especially when so many fans around the world know the script to Friends by heart.

Courteney explained that her memory is so bad that she doesn't remember filming much of the show in the early days...

"I don't remember even being on the show," the actress said.

"I have such a bad memory. I remember obviously loving everybody there and having fun, and certain times in my life that I remember I was there for, but I don't remember episodes."

This spurred Courteney along to start from the beginning during her quarantine...

"I decided during this time - because people love the show so much - I decided to binge-watch Friends," she said.

This is a whole new world for Courteney...

And it is a great way to take a trip down memory lane! "I just started season 1... and it's really good!" she said.

We hope Courteney is enjoying the show as much as we do.

And we can't wait to see her and the other cast members at the reunion show, whenever it appears.

But for now...

We've been blessed with even more Friends material to quench our quarantine boredom. Scroll on...
