After a long, hot summer, I welcome cool breezes, chilly nights, and relief from sweltering city streets. But after living in Florida for six years, I’m seriously short on the cozy, comfy clothes I need to stay warm “up north.”
But who has time to shop around town or head out to the malls? I sure don’t. So I dug deep on Amazon, and I just have to share what I found. I’m thoroughly updated now with bright, cozy clothing for indoors and out: scarves, mittens, sweaters, fuzzy socks, loungewear, and even a totally edgy tunic dress—all without breaking the bank.
Time to trade in the tank tops and shorts! And time to start thinking about holiday gift-giving and upcoming birthdays. I know exactly what I’m giving this year!
The Absolute Must-have Cozy Jacket
Fuzzy sherpa hoodies are all over Instagram every fall—with good reason. I adore this one because it’s an easy-on, easy-off pullover that’s not overly huge or slouchy. It’s super soft, too, and I love the big drawstrings. It’s my new go-anywhere jacket!
Slip on Cozy Booty Slippers and Keep Your Tootsies Warm
Honestly, when temperatures dip below 80°F, I start shivering. When it’s really cold, my feet turn to ice, and there’s no way I’m turning up the heat. These faux-fur slippers are my defense against my lovely (but cold) hardwood floors. I sized up to allow for thick socks—perfect!
A Super Soft Comfy Casual Cardigan
Below-the-hip cardigans are a classic, but this kimono-style cable-knit cardigan has all the latest bells and whistles. I’m lovin’ the batwing sleeves, extended cuffs, and contrasting close-knit weaving style in the collar. It’s the slouchy style we all know and love—reborn!
The Ultimate in Loungewear: A Giant Hooded Blanket
Nobody thought the oversized hooded blanket trend would last, but it’s just getting bigger and better. I finally bought one for cozying up on the patio with friends on chilly nights. But it’s great indoors, too. Who needs to turn the heat up when you can carry the heat with you?
A Gorgeous Shawl Scarf Adds Just the Right Touch
You can’t beat a long shawl scarf like this one. Wrap it around your neck, cross it over your chest and fasten it with a favorite brooch, or wear it like a shawl around your shoulders. The possibilities are endless! This scarf is so silky soft—with lots of colors to choose from—you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
Cable-knit Thigh-high Socks Are Perfect Leg Warmers
These over-the-knee socks remind me of little girl “leotards,” as my mom called the cable-knit tights I wore. But they’re totally grown up and look great with boots, leggings (or not), and a skirt. They keep my legs warm and stay up surprisingly well. I’m gifting almost everyone I know!
Keep Your Ears Warm with Patterned Headbands
Bad hair days are over with these comfy headbands. I just grab one that goes with my ‘fit, and I’m off and running. They’re great any time of year—some have summery patterns—but they’re super for keeping my ears warm on cold, windy days.
Cold Weather Means Warm Mittens
These woolly mittens changed my outlook on winter. Sure, I can’t use my phone, but who wants to when you’re keeping your hands warm? The fleece lining removes potential wool itch, and they feel like I’m holding a mug of hot mulled wine. Now there’s an idea…
Pajamas, Loungewear, or Sportswear—the Perfect Cozy Duo
I’m so done with plaid pajamas. I still have a pair I love, but this striped PJ set is the perfect weight for sleeping, lounging around (in my enormous blanket hoodie), or running out to check mail or grab a latte. Plaid is out, stripes are in!
Kick It Up with this Colorful Poncho
I take that back. Plaid is totally on trend, just not for my pajamas. So far, I’ve worn this super-soft pashmina poncho with a black skirt and tights, skinny black jeans and boots, and wide-legged trousers with a turtleneck. Three awesome outfits with one perfect poncho!
You Need this Clingy Turtleneck
A snug-fitting turtleneck like this one makes all things possible. It’s a layer under a lightweight sweater, a partner with a poncho, or the show-stopper worn alone with just the right bling—and bra! And the extra-long sleeves with thumb holes add a certain je ne sais quoi, especially with a fresh mani.
This Extra-long Artsy Scarf Is the Perfect Gift
I can never have too many scarves. A T-shirt and jeans goes from ho-hum to stunning when you drape this art-printed scarf around your neck. Trust me. Throw on a pair of Chuck Taylors or your favorite heels, and people will want your magic.
Step Up from Your Basic Sweatshirt
This is SO warm and cuddly! I’m wearing this fluffy-lined sweatshirt on the reg. I got two—one in bright yellow—and they fit great (I ordered a size up). By the way, solid colors for sweatshirts are okay. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ with it.
Trade Ski Caps for a Beanie with Silky Lining
I’m done with ski caps like I’m done with plaid pajamas. This slouchy beanie cap has a silky, satin lining that slips on easily and doesn’t trash my hair. I don’t have anything green, but it looks great with my biker-style jacket and, well, you know. Black jeans, black boots…
You Can’t Go Wrong with a Combo Hood, Scarf, and Mittens
I bought this as a gift for a friend, but I might get one for myself. I’d never lose a mitten again! This hat, scarf, and mittens set is brilliant. It’s super soft and cozy, and it’ll keep anyone warm, even me, no matter how cold it gets. You can even tuck your cell phone in a mitten!
A Fluffy Robe in Any Color Will Keep You Warm
I almost bought the red-and-white polka-dot version of this short, hooded robe, but that would be hard to deal with. I mean, I like to wake up slowly, not get jolted awake by a bunch of ping-pong balls. Why torture myself just to avoid solid colors?
The Perfect Cozy Pajamas or Loungewear Set
This super comfy PJ set easily does double, even triple duty. It’s perfect for bedtime, lounging around, running errands, and even bopping off to the gym. I like to mix and match the top with long sweatpants or shorts with a T-shirt. It’s a go-anywhere, do-anything outfit!
Cozy Clothing Essentials: Thermal Undies
If you walk a lot, ride a bike, ski, or snowboard, you’ll need an extra warm layer when the temperature drops. That’s where this lined thermal underwear set comes in. It’s great as loungewear, too, and perfect with a fuzzy polka-dot robe. Or maybe not.
Count on this Classic Sweater for Chilly Days
Everyone needs a classic oversized sweater like this one. It’s not meant to be huge, just loose and comfortable. I wear mine with a long-sleeved T-shirt or a heavier layer, depending on the weather. It goes with almost everything! Except polka dots. But you do you.
Make a Statement in this Pullover Tunic Dress
Dress it up or down, belt it or let it swing. This asymmetrical pullover dress is so IT. It’s like a dress-length sweater made of sweatshirt fabric with fine ribbing. It drapes beautifully, and it’s soft and warm. I just pull it over my head, and I’m good to go with tights or jeans. I’m lovin’ it!
Free Your Fingers and Keep Your Convertible Fingerless Gloves on
These convertible fingerless gloves won’t keep your tuchas warm, but they’ll save your fingers from frostbite—or just from getting cold. Slip off the top layer to use your phone or do anything that requires agility. Slip it back on, and voila! Your fingers are back in their cozy little cocoon.
The Must-have Jumpsuit for Three Seasons
Never again will I whine, “I have nothing to wear!” This well-made, slightly stretchy jumpsuit is perfect when I need something more than just jeans. I keep it casual with flats and simple jewelry or glitz it up with heels and a bright accent piece. No decisions to make. Done!
