As the COVID-19 pandemic enters its twelfth month, the very act of socializing is still restricted so, of course, being able to gamble your life away in a Las Vegas casino still remains unlikely.

It’s been a dire year for the Gambling Capital of the World…

As is the case with the rest of the country, Las Vegas was forced to close its sparkling doors as the global lockdown ensued.

For the first time in decades, the streets of Vegas were empty.

And, in total, the state has counted 299,287 cases with 5,118 deaths.

However, the motions for that all-important reopening have been slowly moving.

Gov. Steve Sisolak signed an emergency directive on Friday, March 12th, that loosens the state’s coronavirus restrictions, according to a press release.

The “Roadmap to Recovery” plan detailed that the capacity for gaming floors and other establishments will increase from thirty-five to fifty percent today, March 15th…

This is a result of the state seeing only 222 new cases with just one new death over the weekend, according to state health data.

However, despite the plan for a careful cease of restrictions…

It seems that Las Vegas’ residents simply cannot wait to get their hands on the slots.

As stated earlier, shocking footage from the weekend has shown thousands of people swarming through Las Vegas’ strip.

Guests could be seen gathering shoulder-to-shoulder inside Sin City casinos just days before the capacity restrictions were lifted.

On one hand, some people have been pleased to see the streets of Vegas alive once more.

However, others have branded the crowds as “reckless” and “stupid.”

This Twitter user shared his photos from Las Vegas…

Where the strip could be seen full of both traffic and pedestrians.

While over on TikTok, this user shared a video of the crowds on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

Facemask-cladden party-goers could be seen drinking and dancing, much like they had done in a pre-COVID-19 world.

As you can see, the scenes are truly shocking.

But is this really the way forward?
