One dad has gone viral this week for his discipline methods...

And it has truly divided the internet.

A video was shared online and took off on social media.

 And it showed a father disciplining his son in a rather harsh way.

And while some have spoken out in support of his actions ...

Others feel just as strongly to the contrary.

Many believe this method will make children learn their lessons quicker...

 While others think this will only reinforce bad habits later in life.

Many are truly lost on what to think.

But, of course, there was no shortage of opinions!

Some thought it was way too far.

"Disgusting and extremely irresponsible to post a video of a child being abused and asking if people think it's ok. Bullying a child is never acceptable, shame on you for even asking."

Some thought the dad was posting it for attention...

"And why the video? What exactly does posting the video do??? Am I the only one tired of people posting things for attention? Wrong-way to go about it!"

While others held a different opinion...

"Perfect example of parenting! When you see the long lasting effects of bullying on children....the first and best resource to stop it, is with the parents! Quit trying to be your kids best friend and hold them accountable for this and other unacceptable behavior! Bravo Dad!!"

Others felt a little more strongly...

"That's not bullying. That's good parenting. Teaching him that actions have consequences. Anybody that disagrees, is probably afraid to discipline their child."

Most agreed with the punishment...

Perhaps the public nature is a part of the punishment?

And the distance he has to run with his backpack on in the rain, some found a bit excessive.

 "Yesterday he was apparently a little rude for Michelle in the morning, so even though it's raining this morning he still gets to run", Thornhill said.

And it seems as though the rather harsh punishment had pretty good results...

 "He hasn't got in trouble at school this week, whereas last week he was absolutely out of his mind", he says. "This right here is called parenting."
