Dad-of-Three Falls to His Death Rescuing Driver From Overpass Crash

A dad-of-3 has died after he fell twenty-seven feet while rescuing a driver from an overpass crash.

The dad fell to his death after he stopped to help a stranger in need.

Timothy Baclit had been driving along the I-376 in Hopewell Township at around 1am when he spotted a a driver who had crashed into the guard-rail.

The forty-one-year had stopped and was trying to help the driver out the vehicle when he fell, TooFab reports.

Baclit slipped and fell around twenty-seven feet.

Sadly, he died of his injuries while at the scene.

Baclit’s dad, Scott Baclit, spoke with WPXI where he explained that all they know is that there was an accident and “Tim and another witness stopped to assist the guy.”

“Tim went around the back side of the vehicle to help extract the individual, from what we understand,” he said. “Stood up on the concrete wall and slipped and fell off the bridge.”

He dad further told WTAE that his son”had the brawn of a grizzly bear, but he had the heart of a lion.”

His stepmom, Mary Ellen Baclit, also told the outlet that his children are finding comfort in the fact “that he died a hero.”

“I don’t think anyone was surprised what he was doing when it happened, that’s Tim,” she said. “He’d be there for anyone in a drop of a hat, no question.”

Baclit’s girlfriend, Vicky Hunter, described him as “the most honest person you’ll ever meet.”

“He has a sister with a severe disability that he gave his heart to almost daily, and he took care of her,” she said.

A GoFundMe page, set up for Baclit, explains that he “was taken by an unexpected tragedy through his selfless acts of kindness.”

The page states that donations will be used “towards the 3 children’s educational funding accounts.”

More than $40,000 has been raised so far.

Our thought are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
