Emergency services found Dex Carvey unresponsive inside a locked bathroom after his girlfriend, Kaylee, called authorities for help.

The Wayne’s World star and his wife, Paula, took to Instagram to confirm the tragic news the next day.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy,” the post began.

“Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose,” the couple continued. “He was 32 years old.”

“It’s not an exaggeration to say Dex loved life,” the SNL alum insisted.

 “And when you were with him, you loved life too,” the caption read. “He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends, and his girlfriend Kaylee.”

The pair finished their statement by offering their “prayers” to “anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction.”

The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Dex’s cause of death on January 23.
