Born in London to Ugandan parents, Kaluuya was raised in a working class area and had a very normal upbringing.
He wrote his first play at the age of 9 and he soon started performing improvisational theatre.

He spent many years acting at a local theatre school…

And as a teenager and young man, Kaluuya landed numerous roles in popular British TV shows, such as Skins and Doctor Who.

After spending some time performing in theatres around London, Kaluuya gradually started to make a name for himself in bigger and more notable drama series…

And he soon landed roles in numerous BBC dramas and, of course, the very famous Black Mirror series.

Kaluuya’s performance in Black Mirror’s Fifteen Million Merits caught the attention of Jordan Peele.

Now, Jordan Peele is a renowned actor and filmmaker who is best known for his work in the horror genre.

Peele decided to cast Kaluuya as the lead role in his thriller, Get Out…

And this starring role catapulted the young actor to stardom.

And as well as Kaluuya’s performance, the success of the movie overall was unprecedented.

The horror flick, which grossed over $100 million at the box office, told the tale of a Black man named Chris who discovered a horrifying family secret while visiting his white girlfriend’s parents for the first time.

It’s a notoriously dark watch…

Because Chris discovers that his girlfriend’s family, who are psychotherapists and neurosurgeons, had been kidnapping and murdering African American’s for years to supply to members of their cult.

Viewers then watch as an intense battle commences…

As Chris attempts to escape the clutches of the murderous family.

It makes for the perfect horror flick…

And it’s needless to say that Peele truly proved his astounding abilities to write and direct a gripping and engaging movie.

And his role as Chris garnered him critical acclaim, a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor, and an EE Rising Star Award.

But despite his remarkable performance in the movie…

The actor didn’t end up being invited to the premiere, resulting in him not attending… and people just couldn’t believe their ears when Kaluuya explained why recently in an interview for The Graham Norton Show.

Kaluuya appeared on the popular talk show, The Graham Norton Show, earlier this month to discuss his role in Black Panther and the release of the second movie…

And he revealed that while he was filming for the first Black Panther movie, he actually missed out on attending the premier for Get Out.

“On the Sundance world premiere, I was in Atlanta because I was shooting [Black] Panther,” he explained.

“I was chilling, I cleared my schedule. I was like, ‘I really wanna do it.’ And then just didn’t get the invite. I wasn’t invited, so I was just in my bed – someone texted me, ‘It’s done really well.'”

“I don’t ask questions. You don’t wanna be in a place that you don’t feel wanted.”

But despite the apparent snub, the actor was able to see the humorous side of it and joked that “this is the industry!”.

While it remains unknown as to exactly why Kaluuya wasn’t invited to the premiere of the movie he starred in…

It seems as if the actor hasn’t got any hard feelings about it and he explained he was able to attend a screening with the rest of the cast and crew a week later.
Well, we personally feel it’s outrageous that Kaluuya didn’t receive an invite… and we certainly wouldn’t be as light-hearted as he has been if we were in the same position!
