We all know how Daniel Radcliffe rose to fame...

The British actor catapulted to international stardom aged just eleven for his role as (you guessed it) Harry Potter in the famed movie franchise based on the books by J.K Rowling.

But it very nearly didn't happen.

Daniel's parents initially refused to let him audition for the role, but a chance meeting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone director, Chris Columbus, meant that Daniel eventually went to audition.

The 8-film series spanned more than a decade of Daniel's life.

And we saw him change from barely a teenager to a young man on the big screen.

The Harry Potter franchise spurred on several big opportunities for Daniel.

And saw him go from a barely-own child actor to working with some of the most distinguished names in the business, including Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Although, many people have wondered if the success of Harry Potter had a negative effect on Daniel.

Despite the movies taking up pretty much all of his youth, the star revealed that he has no regrets. "They've been great. For the most part I've been happy every single day. And all the times I've been unhappy, it's never been anything to do with Potter," he said in a previous interview with Details magazine.

The actor admitted that he had a drinking problem during his teens and occasionally went to film scenes as Harry Potter still drunk from the night before. You can read more about what he had to say about his drinking at the end...

Daniel has now been sober since 2010... a whole decade!

Of course, Harry Potter had to come to an end at some point.

And when the final movie hit screens in July 2011, it was time for Daniel to move onto other projects.

He was keen to break free of the Harry Potter typecasting.

And in 2012, we saw the actor headline a movie that was a huge change in tone for him... the gothic horror, The Woman in Black.

Later that same year...

He starred in the British TV show A Young Doctor's Notebook. The series was such a success with viewers that it was renewed for a another season.

He's starred in a bunch of acclaimed movies since then.

Including the likes of Now You See Me 2, Swiss Army Man, and Jungle.

And let's not forget the time when he became a meme.

He'll never live that one down.

But of course...

He's still not fully been able to shake off that Harry Potter image - part of us will always see him as the young wizard we all grew to love.

This week, the star appeared on Buzzfeed Celebs' YouTube channel.

And he was there for a pretty unlikely reason.

The star read out and reacted to a ton of thirsty tweets about himself.

Daniel admitted that he didn't even know what a "thirst" tweet was.

"Just found out last night what thirst tweets actually means. I thought it was just tweets that were in some way thirsty for attention, not that that attention was specifically sexual," he said.

If he didn't know before...

He certainly does now. The actor was left completely shellshocked by some of the tweets that came in.

The video is utterly hilarious.

One of the Harry Potter-related tweets read: "Daniel Radcliffe. I would let him Slytherin," which the actor said was "unpleasant."

Let's just say, some of the tweets were less PG than others.

Another tweet included the phrase: "I want to ride him like a firebolt." Well, it's very to the point.
