We all fell in love with the dark comedy which followed 2 women as they navigated the loss of their husbands.

The pair, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, who played Jen Harding and Judy Hale respectively, developed an unlikely friendship when they both became part of a grief support group.

The show was such a hit that Applegate was nominated for an Emmy for her role as a grieving widow in season 1.

“I didn’t even think that I was remotely close to having this day so it’s shocking. I mean, look at who I am standing there with!” she told People back in 2019.
“I was like, ‘There is no way.’ Yes, people have been really, really complimentary of the show and that’s felt really nice because it doesn’t always happen like that, but still, I was like, ‘How’d I squeeze in there?'”

Now, fans were made aware of a third season back in 2020, but we’ve finally been given an update that the show will be hitting screens this fall.

Sadly though, this season, Applegate and Cardellini won’t be returning, and instead, the show will take a different direction with all new characters.

Applegate took to Twitter after finding out about the renewal and said: “I will miss these ladies. But we felt this was the best way to tie up the story of these women. Thank you to all the fans. We will be getting back to work when it is safe to do so.”

According to a statement from Netflix, the new show will be another “dark comedy” similar in style to the first 2 seasons.

It will follow “three very different families vying to buy the very same 1920s Spanish-style villa that they think will solve all their problems. But as the sellers have already discovered, sometimes the home of your dreams can be a total nightmare.”

The Head of Comedy at Netflix, Tracey Pakosta, said that “No good Liz Feldman project can go unproduced.”

Adding: “She has an unmatched eye for dark comedy. And as we enter the final season of the brilliant Dead to Me, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with No Good Deed.”

We can’t wait!
