Star of the iconic reality TV series, Deadliest Catch, Mahlon Reyes, has tragically passed away aged thirty-eight.

And now, the cause of his death has been confirmed...

A few months ago, we heard the news that Mahlon Reyes had passed away.

He died on July 27th, 2020.

We all know him from his stint on Deadliest Catch.

The deckhand, who worked on 2 of the shows crab fishing boats, was only thirty-eight at the time of his death.

Now, only months on, it has been revealed what caused his death...

And of course, fans were devastated over the news. Things have been even more difficult for them because not too long ago, another member of the show, Nick McGlashan also passed away.

For those of you that don't know, Reyes worked on the Seabrooke and Cape Caution...

And was an integral part of the team as they went searching for crabs.

He worked in the Bering Sea...

During the Alaskan King Crab and Snow Crab fishing sessions.

Reyes always knew it was always a dangerous game...

But he was willing to take the risk to provide for himself and his family.

Deadliest Catch is exceptionally dangerous.

As we got a little reminder of when one of the main members of the team died a few years ago.

Captain Phil Harris died during season 6.

He had complained about feeling excessively tired before going to fetch pain medication and then collapsing.

Harris insisted the camera crews continued filming even though he was severely injured...

As he wanted the show to depict the brutal family bonds that are formed on these exceptionally dangerous vessels.

Reyes also injured himself not that long ago...

And he was doing everything he could to recover from a torn Achilles so that he could get back out on the boat.

He had no pre-existing health conditions...

So his death came as an even bigger shock to everyone.

His family let his fans know that he was cremated...

And his wife revealed to TMZ, that his ashes were scattered in the sea by his Deadliest Catch crew.

Mahlon's wife also revealed more details about his death.

She explained that he passed away in his hometown of Whitefish, Montana.

And that he had suffered from a heart attack...

But despite surviving the initial attack, he didn't regain consciousness.

However, his family decided to take him off the machine the following day.

He was surrounded by his loved ones.

I guess that's the only positive we can take from this heartbreaking situation.

So what caused this sudden heart attack?

Well, according to the autopsy and toxicology results, it seems as though the fisherman had suffered an accidental drug overdose as confirmed by multiple news outlets.

He is survived by his wife...
