#DementiaJoe is currently trending on Twitter following Joe Biden’s first press conference as president.
Read on to find out why…
Now, President Biden has thrown himself into his new role with gusto.
Months after his move to the White House, the newly-elected president has been keeping himself very busy by dismantling a whole array of controversial Trump-era regulations.
Mere hours after his inauguration ceremony, Biden fulfilled one of his top campaign promises by pledging to put the U.S. back in the Paris Agreement on climate change – an international pact aimed at curbing emissions that cause global warming.
Trump famously withdrew from the agreement in 2017, citing costs to American taxpayers.
And as for the country’s ongoing racial division?
Well, Biden has already got to work on putting the pieces back together.
He first signed an executive order to promote racial equity.
Biden ordered his government to conduct equity assessments of its agencies and reallocate resources to “advance equity for all, including people of color and others who have been historically underserved, marginalized and adversely affected by persistent poverty and inequality.”
He then reversed Trump’s infamous ban on U.S. entry from majority-Muslim countries.
Biden’s proclamation reversed Trump’s policy that barred entry to the U.S. for refugees and residents from 7 predominantly Muslim countries and orders plans within forty-five days for resuming visa processing.
But, despite all his hard work…
Biden – just like many past presidents – has made a few mistakes along the way.
He recently laid into Vladimir Putin, escalating the already tense relationship between the countries.
Biden was asked if he believed the Russian president was a killer, to which he responded “I do.”
Following the comment, Russia recalled its ambassador from the U.S and demanded an apology.
Oh, and not to mention Biden’s little slip-up recently!
Earlier this month, the president was seen falling up the stairs as he boarded Air Force One which resulted in him being a laughing stock online.
Which isn’t something the president of the United States wants to be!
But it seems as if Biden has been keeping his spirits high despite his little stumble as he’s recently come forward with some very ambitious plans for the future.
Biden took part in his first press conference as president yesterday…
And he outlined his plans for the future, including running for president again in 2024.
He confirmed that he expects Kamala Harris to stand as his running mate again.
“I would fully expect that to be the case,” he said, “She is doing a good job. She is a great partner.”
But following the seemingly successful press conference, Biden has been facing a lot of criticism online…
So much so, that the hashtag “DementiaJoe” has been trending.
President Biden was seen using “cheat sheets” during the conference…
And the sheet he was holding appeared to show the headshots of journalists whom he planned to call on during the conference.
The New York Post then revealed that the president held a sheet with bulleted notes…
Such as, “The United States now ranks 13th globally in infrastructure quality – down from 5th place in 2002.”
It seems as if people aren’t impressed by the president’s first press conference.
Do you think he did a good job? Or do you think the trending hashtag is totally necessary?
