Demi Lovato is known for being outspoken in the face of adversity - and her latest move proves just that. Although some on the internet are not happy with her.

Now, we all know and love Demi Lovato for being a woman of many talents...

And she has cemented a firm career for herself as a singer, songwriter, actress, and producer.

The New Mexico-born actress rose to fame at a very young age...

It all started in 2007 when she played Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel short series As the Bell Rings.

She went on to star in Disney's Camp Rock and Sonny With a Chance which propelled her to stardom even more.

After her Disney years, Lovato stepped into the world of music...

And she has released iconic singles such as "Don't Forget" (2008), "Skyscraper" (2011), "Heart Attack" (2013), and "Sorry Not Sorry" (2017).

The star also has a very strong social media presence...

And she's often seen using her platform to discuss topics such as politics, LGBTQ+, feminism, and of course, the Black Lives Matter movement.

But just like many young Disney stars...

Lovato also has a history of substance abuse...

And she revealed that she is a sufferer of bipolar disorder, an eating disorder, and self-harm.

She has struggled with drug and alcohol addictions since the age of seventeen...

And she was first admitted into rehab at the age of eighteen.

While being interviewed on Good Morning America the star was candid and honest about her mental health struggles, with this interview marking the first time she ever opened up about what had been going on behind closed doors.

And as the years have gone on, Lovato has decided to speak out about her struggles more and more.

In 2017, she released the YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated.

It followed her day-to-day life and she spoke very candidly about her past drug addiction, battle with her weight, and taking control of her life.

Lovato had previously been sober for nearly 6 years, though her battle with an eating disorder is still ongoing.

"Food is still the biggest challenge in my life," she said in the film after she admitted to relapsing and purging that year.

The star has also admitted that her "destructive behavior" stems from her eating disorder.

Her vulnerability and honesty are perhaps why fans feel so connected to Lovato...

Because anyone who has ever gone through this kind of darkness in their life can relate to the singer's own journey.

But back in 2018, just a year on from the documentary, Lovato experienced one of her most life-threatening moments yet.

In July 2018, the actress was found unconscious at her home in Los Angeles after suffering a major overdose.

She was administered Narcan before being rushed to hospital.

Following the overdose, the star spent nearly 2 weeks in a hospital before undergoing treatment at a rehab facility and sober living facility for several months.

The press was made aware of the overdose but as it turns out, it was so much more serious than anyone realized.

Lovato has recently released another incredibly emotional YouTube documentary, Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil.

The powerful series covers many topics including the build-up to, and the aftermath of, her accidental overdose in the summer of 2018 and the pressures of recovery.

And, alongside this ...

She's still dedicated to tackling diet culture.

This week, she spoke out once more.

Although the internet is a little bit torn ...

She took to IG on Saturday to call out a frozen yogurt joint called The Bigg Chill.

Claiming she found their layout triggering to ED survivors.

She said she was unhappy about the diet foods on display.

Especially as she had no choice to walk past them.

And she's decided to continue calling brands out, too.
