Demi Lovato has opened up about embracing their masculine side in their latest podcast episode.

The star opened up while speaking with transgender boxer, Patricio Manuel, on their podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato.

During the podcast, the pair discussed trans visibility and traditional masculinity in the sports world with Lovato coming to the realization for the first time that their MMA training helps them to "embrace my masculine side."

Lovato announced last month they identify as non-binary and will be using the pronouns they/them.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the singer revealed that "after a lot of healing and self-reflective work" they now "identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward."

"I'm still learning and coming into myself, and I don't claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I'm doing this for those out there that haven't been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way," they also wrote.

Lovato has been a practitioner of jiujitsu for a long time now, revealing to Manuel on Wednesdays episode that they found "an immense amount of healing from it."

"I found that when i started training, specifically for me it was jiujitsu, I really found an immense amount of healing," Lovato said.

Opening up about embracing their masculine side, Lovato also told Manuel:

"I think that actually is what attracted me to the sport as well. For me it was MMA, but I felt like I was embracing my masculine side when I was training... I was able to step foot into my masculinity more."

Lovato has previously opened up about finding MMA fighting meditative in an interview with People back in 2017.

"I would say that if you struggle with depression, anxiety, or any other type of stressors in your life, a really great way to get rid of those is through physical exercise and fitness," they said at the time.
