Demi Lovato has divided opinions this week with her stance on gender reveal parties.
The star, who has been in and out of headlines for her personal struggles as of late, shared a lengthy Instagram post regarding the topic...
Which slammed the tradition as "transphobic."

Now, Lovato has always been refreshingly candid online.
And is often praised for her honest and unfiltered approach to topics such as mental health.
Lovato also has a history of substance abuse...
And recently revealed that she is a sufferer of bipolar disorder, an eating disorder, and self-harm.
She has struggled with drug and alcohol addictions since the age of seventeen...
And she was first admitted into rehab at the age of eighteen.
Lovato opened up about her mental health for the first time in this infamous interview 9 years ago.
While being interviewed on Good Morning America the star was honest about her mental health struggles, with this interview marking the first time she ever opened up about what had been going on behind closed doors.
And as the years have passed, Lovato has decided to speak out about her struggles more and more.
In 2017, she released the YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated.
It followed her day-to-day life and she spoke very candidly about her past drug addiction, battle with her weight, and taking control of her life.
Lovato had previously been sober for nearly 6 years, though her battle with an eating disorder is still ongoing.
"Food is still the biggest challenge in my life," she said in the film after she admitted to relapsing and purging that year.
The star has also admitted that her "destructive behavior" stems from her eating disorder.
Her vulnerability and honesty are perhaps why fans feel so connected to Lovato...
Because anyone who has ever gone through this kind of darkness in their life can relate to the singer's own journey.
However, her latest social media post has caused quite the controversy.
As stated earlier, Lovato shared a post that revealed her stance on gender-reveal parties.
It turns out that she isn't the biggest fan of the way some expectant couples reveal their unborn child's gender to their families...
But people aren't too impressed with some of the accusations her shared post implied.

Suddenly gender reveal parties are “transphobic” according to Demi Lovato. This is the first thing I see coming on… https://t.co/baNyJESdvp— April Rose Catherine Sixsmith (@April Rose Catherine Sixsmith)1614289066.0
The lengthy post, which was originally shared by a trans activist, went on to assert that basing a baby's gender on their genitalia is "inconsistent with science."
The series of text images, entitled "Why Gender Reveals Are Transphobic," began:
"It's both insincere and incorrect to pretend that gender reveal parties are not transphobic. You can't have your proverbial pink-blue binary cake and eat it too."
"This is not about political correctness, it's just…correct. We condemn gender reveals not because of our identity, but because of reality."
Her repost then went on to state that gender reveal parties lead to the idea that trans people are less "natural/organic" than everybody else.
"Transphobia is not just about prejudice against individual trans people, it's also a way of thinking that understands non-trans people as more natural/organic and erases everyone else," the post continued.

Lovato captioned the post: "@alokvmenon with the real. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and educating us always."
