‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ Star Sentenced to Prison After Pleading Guilty To Killing His Mom

Child star, Ryan Grantham, known best for playing Rodney in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, has been sentenced after the murder of his mother.

With many believing the sentence is far too light.

“Wtf? Why so low? He killed his MOTHER!!!!” wrote one.

“Premeditated should be first degree and parole a dream that will never happen,” another added.

It has been reported that the killing of Grantham’s mom was merely the first step in his grand scheme.

What he told police after the brutal murder, has chilled social media users down to the bone.

One Facebook user wrote: “Oh dear god, what a cold-blooded way to kill his mother. Surely there must have been some kind of indications of something very wrong.”

Another outraged user wrote: “Well this young man ruined his life and others affected by what he has done. I say let him rot in prison and become someone’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Show No Mercy.”

A third commented: “What. What is happening to Young men worldwide? There seems to be an epidemic where troubled and Confused young men turn to guns as their solution. We have to combat this.”

“Mental illness is in fact a serious issue. Anyone struggling should have the right to seek help without judgment. However, he planned to kill his own mother. I refuse to excuse his actions b/c of depression. He is a murderer & deserves punishment. What a fall from grace. Shot in the back of the head? R.I.P. to his mother,” a fourth wrote.

Reports suggest that he wanted to kill his mother so she didn’t have to witness him trying to assassinate Trudeau.

“I was in a rush and he was the only person I could think of, the most important person in Canada. Like, I could do something to make an impact,” Grantham heartlessly told police at the time.

After he killed his mother in April 2020, Grantham planned to kill Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau…

The 24-year-old was suffering from clinical depression when he shot his mother in the head while she was playing the piano, The Independent reports.

And even filmed the gruesome scene after he had pulled the trigger, clearly showing no remorse for his actions.

Despite killing his mother first, his main target was always Trudeau, as police found a journal with written evidence of his violent intentions.

The day after he murdered his mother, Grantham filled his car with ammunition, camping supplies, and a map with directions to Trudeau’s Rideau Cottage residence.

However, the realization of what he’d done just a day before clearly started to set in during the drive.

He drove around 200 kilometers east to the town of Hope before deciding to give himself up to law enforcement.

Where he told an officer: “I killed my mother.”

The Riverdale actor’s sentence hearing is ongoing after he admitted to the murder of his mother in their townhouse in Squamish.

According to psychiatric reports, commissioned after the murder, the child star had: “a cannabis use disorder after years of heavy use.”

Despite this, he was able to maintain an “outward appearance that he was functioning normally.”

In court this week, evidence was heard from both sides.

 “How can I trust anybody when my only sibling chose to execute my mom when her back was turned?” sister Lisa said in her victim statement.

But, following deliberation, the sentence came in surprisingly low.

He’s been sentenced to life in prison, but has the possibility of parole after just 14 years.

His lawyer Chris Johnson said: “It was, I think, the lowest possible [sentence] we could expect given the circumstances.”

It’s believed that his mental health issues may have played a part in the sentencing.
