The alleged overdose occurred on Friday.

It's been reported that the drug overdose took place at around 11pm Friday evening.

According to TMZ, the overdose triggered a heart attack.

He was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York.

TMZ claimed at the time that the rapper has 'some brain activity'.

Other sources claimed that he was in a vegetative state, though these reports were not confirmed.

Most news outlets are claiming the prognosis does not look good.

And now a statement from DMX's lawyer seems to confirm this.

The statement reads:

A family member of DMX's told TMZ that paramedics tried to resuscitate him for 30 minutes.

During this time his brain was massively starved of oxygen which has severely impacted his brain.

One family source said: "It's not looking good."

And DMX's children are flying out to see him and be by his bedside.

In another statement, DMX's reps said:

Last night Earl 'DMX' Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must conquer.

The statement continued:

The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl. Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.

We hope DMX is able to get through this.
