The shocking details are still unfolding, but it seems like former President Trump has dodged yet another assassination attempt.

This time, the would-be assassin has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, of Hawaii, who was caught with an AK-47 at Trump’s Florida golf course.
Routh, who has a criminal record in North Carolina, seems to have harbored a personal vendetta against Trump and supported numerous Democratic causes online.

The drama unfolded when Routh was apprehended near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where Trump was enjoying a round of golf.
Routh had set up a GoPro camera and was armed with the rifle as he approached the golf course, apparently planning to film the attack.
But Trump’s security detail wasn’t having it—agents opened fire on Routh after spotting him through the chain-link fence.
Routh fled the scene, but it didn’t take long for police to track him down on I-95, where he was arrested.
While Trump was rushed to safety, it’s not the first time he’s been in the crosshairs.
There was an earlier attempt on his life in July, and now questions about his security detail are on everyone’s minds.
Sources say he had been planning this attack for months, carefully watching Trump’s movements and even setting up his filming equipment in advance.
But Secret Service agents, although spread thin, were able to spot Routh in time, possibly preventing a deadly attack.
After his arrest, authorities found more damning evidence, including a backpack filled with additional gear near his “sniper’s nest.”

But who exactly is Ryan Routh, and how did he go from being a disgruntled citizen to a would-be assassin targeting a former president?
Routh’s political activism didn’t begin recently. Since 2019, he’s donated at least 19 times to Democratic candidates and causes, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.
He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and later relocated to Hawaii around 2018.
But it’s clear his political frustrations only grew over time. At one point, he voiced disappointment with Trump after initially supporting him during the 2016 election.
And his online presence paints a picture of someone deeply involved in progressive politics, often railing against Trump and other conservative leaders.

What’s even more alarming is that Routh’s posts on social media echo the very same anti-Trump rhetoric frequently used by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Routh tweeted that “DEMOCRACY is on the ballot” and warned that the country “cannot lose,” almost directly parroting speeches given by Harris and Biden on the campaign trail.
Vice President Kamala Harris, just days before the attack, had said in Savannah, “We are fighting for our democracy.”

It doesn’t stop there. Routh’s social media is filled with incendiary posts slamming Trump, including one where he accused Trump of trying to “make Americans slaves.”
In one post from April 2022, he encouraged President Biden to base his re-election campaign on protecting democracy.
In 2020, Routh tweeted at Trump, calling him a disappointment and suggesting he “was getting worse and devolving.”

Aside from his anti-Trump tirades, Routh also had an unusual fascination with global conflicts, particularly the war in Ukraine.
In 2022, Routh traveled to Kyiv and even expressed a desire to fight on the frontlines in Ukraine, although it appears he was turned down.
He publicly entertained the idea of buying a rocket from Elon Musk to “end Putin,” one of several bizarre and unsettling posts on X (formerly Twitter).
By 2024, his frustration with world leaders, particularly Trump, seemed to have boiled over, culminating in his assassination attempt in Florida.
Political violence in U.S. escalates as Routh’s attack sparks debate!
And while Routh is now in custody, his attempt has reignited debates over political violence in the U.S., especially amid the current toxic political climate.
Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton didn’t hold back, calling Routh’s rhetoric a direct result of the “incitement” coming from Harris and Biden.
“It is no coincidence that Routh repeated Kamala’s and Joe’s extremist rhetoric against Trump,” Fitton told The Post.
As of now, spokespeople for President Biden and Vice President Harris have yet to comment on Routh’s connections to their messaging.
