Saved By The Bell star, Dustin Diamond, has just received a devastating diagnosis at the age of forty-four.

Of course, this terrible news has come as a shock to many...

And floods of support have come in from friends and fans all around the world.

Now, we all know Dustin Diamond for gracing our screens on Saved By The Bell...

But there's so much more to the actor than his role on the hit sitcom.

Hailing from California, Diamond began acting when he was a child...

And his first major role came in 1988 when he was cast as the nerdy yet lovable character of Samuel "Screech" Powers in Good Morning, Miss Bliss - which would later become Saved By The Bell.

Diamond played this role for close to thirteen years...

And after Saved By The Bell came to an end, the actor moved to stand-up comedy and has toured on and off ever since.

He has also been featured on a number of game and reality shows including The Weakest Link, and Celebrity Boxing 2...

Including numerous cameo appearances in movies such as Made in 2001 and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star in 2003.

The actor currently resides in Port Washington, Wisconsin...

And, though the last decade he has had some serious ups and downs, including serving time in prison for carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, Diamond is living a quiet life relatively under the radar.

But in more recent times, Diamond has been hit with some devastating news.

He has recently announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

A rep for the forty-four-year-old actor issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly yesterday on January 14th, calling the cancer diagnosis "serious."

"He's undergoing chemo so he will be there at least another week and then we will figure out when he gets to come home."

The type of cancer that Diamond has been diagnosed with hasn't yet been confirmed.

"By next week, we'll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he's comfortable."

The rep then explained that Diamond was "feeling fine" yesterday although he wasn't doing so great when he was first admitted to the hospital.

"He was fading in and out, feeling sleepy and tired. On top of all this, he also has shingles, so he's been in a lot of pain."

Another rep for the actor told EW that Diamond's medical problems began with "a huge lump on his throat."

It must be such a difficult time for the actor right now...

And we hope Diamond will make a steady and healthy recovery very soon.
