El Chapo’s Wife in Talks to Join Reality Show About Drug Cartels

On February 12th 2018, Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, was arrested and charged on all counts held against him. The notorious dealer continued engaging in criminal activity while locked behind bars, and his influence is still prominent in the world of cartels today.

However, the news I’m about to bring you is actually to do with his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro. Apparently, the ex-beauty-queen is now in talks with VH1’s Cartel Crew, a show based on families of dealers who have to face the effects of being associated with the world’s most dangerous people.

Keep reading to find out why people were left shocked upon hearing the news.

In 2018, the man the world knew as El Chapo was found guilty of multiple felonies.

Due to the dangers that surrounded this case, extra precautions had to be taken in order to make sure the jurors were protected. Many feared that they would be tracked down and murdered for ultimately bringing down one of the most dangerous men the world has ever seen.

Are you supposed to take his word for it? If I was a juror called to this case, I would do whatever I could to get myself off it.

There were tears, in what was described as an “open rebellion” but in the end, twelve non-biased jurors were picked and within thirty-six hours, they had come to a “guilty” verdict.

His wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro. Throughout the entire case, she made appearances in court, supporting the man she loved.

The two had been married for eleven years when he finally got caught. She sat in the house of law, listening to the horrid stories told by those on the stand about how her husband was involved in appalling activities such as rape and torture.

She told The New York Times: “I don’t know my husband as the person they are trying to show him as, but rather I admire him as the human being that I met, and the one that I married.”

And even after knowing what he was being charged with, she continued to stand by these claims.

Apparently, Coronel Aispuro claimed that she had no idea about her husband’s illegal activities. Even when an ex-member of their own cartel, Damaso Lopez, testified against her, saying that she was the one that helped him escape prison in 2015, she continued to deny being associated with any of his “businesses.”

On two separate occasions, she was caught with an illegal cell phone in which she was contacting her husband without the knowledge of the courts.

Born in California, the ex-beauty-queen met El Chapo at a dance. Within a few months, on her eighteenth birthday, the two wed after Guzman stormed in with a bunch of armed men and demanded the right to marry her. I guess that counts as a proposal, right?

The couple showed solidarity in the courtroom by wearing matching outfits and giving each other the occasional thumbs-up. Goals, right?

The woman was smart in her own right. After studying journalism, she had a strong foundation on how to handle the press. She rarely gave interviews and avoided answering questions hurled towards her.

She told The Los Angeles Times: “He would be incapable of touching a woman with bad intentions, of trying to make her do something she didn’t want to do.”

Translated from Spanish, this is what she tweeted: “We both knew that to make us a reality we would have to pay a huge price: distance, time, challenges and sacrifices. It was worth it.”

And his influence on the outside world is still unmatched. Though his wife typically keeps a low profile, this announcement has propelled her into the spotlight, once again.

Apparently, the ex-pageant winner is now looking to take part in VH1’s Cartel Crew.

Based on the lives of family members who have decided to break away from their notorious drug dealer families, Cartel Crew is a TV show that tells the story of those who have been affected by the legacy of the past.

But as I’ve mentioned, Coronel Aispuro remains loyal to her husband, so it seems as if this requirement of the show will not be met.

For those of you that don’t know, Blanco is related to drug overload, Griselda Blanco. No, they weren’t discussing that kind of business, as it was a “business meeting” in order to secure a spot on the show.

You can never be too sure going into these kinds of meetings… One would assume. Michael is already one of the stars of the show and bringing Emma on would only increase the drama, which would also increase publicity for the show.

Only last week, all hell broke loose as El Chapo’s son was caught and arrested by the Mexican authorities but it didn’t last long.

The streets were up in flames with active members of the gang taking police officers and soldiers hostage, threatening to keep killing them until he was released.

Even despite knowing all this, apparently, there is a contract on the table for her.

I mean, if I was member of another family on the show, I would steer clear of El Chapo’s wife. I mean that must be an unwritten law, right? You don’t want to get on the wrong side of such a powerful woman.

In the meantime, if you’re in the mood to see who else might be on the El Chapo hit list, have a read of this… This guy’s got some guts, that’s all I’ll say…
